Guest guest
SUPER BOWL! (OF CHIPS & DIP) Sunday, 05 February 2012 Nope, I won't be sitting down this evening to take in the big Super Bowl game. Hey, I did all of the quaterbacking I needed during our super Sweatin' class at Slimmons yesterday! And believe me, the way some of my students move in class, we could run that football down the field and leave some of those NFL players back in the dust! Grrrrr! We're tough! It's Super Bowl Sunday in America. Oh yes, it's Super Bowl Sunday in America. A lot of you ladies out there aren't big football fans but you may be married to a man who is. All over America, the guys will be getting together for their big Super Bowl parties. Is there one going on at your house? And hasyour guy drafted you to help with preparing all of that food? He has? Oh, oh! Well, if you're in that situation, I want you to put on your own helmet. Not to block another player but to block those calories, thank you! Get this. Super Bowl Sunday is the second largest food consumption day of the year in America. I couldn't believe it but that information comes from the United States Department of Agriculture. The USDA says Super Bowl Sunday is second only to Thanksgiving in the amount of one-day food & calorie consumption per person in this country. Wow! That means it even beats out Christmas. Americans may consume up to2000 calories in the three hours of watching today's big game. But wait. Don't leave your seat. Here's some even more astounding news about how much food men and women, (I'm sure), will end up eating today. In a typical day, the average American consumes about 2,000 calories. But while the big game is on this evening, the same American may consume that number of calories...in just those three hours of watching football! Let me say that again, 2000 calories consumed in just three hours. (Boy, I knew I should have bought that stock in Alka-Seltzer last week! LOL.) Oh my goodness, there'll be Buffalo chicken wings, bowls of chips and dip, jars of roasted nuts, deep-fried chicken nuggets and we haven't even talked about how much alcohol will be consumed today! And the bad thing about is all of that eating, combined with alcohol consumption, only ends up making you want to eat more food! If there's a Super Bowl party at your house this evening, please be careful. If there's a Super Bowl party at your house this evening, please be careful. In fact, if you're not a football fan, it might be a good idea to take in a movie, have a girls night out or do anything else to get you away from all of that food. Just choose an activity that doesn't put some other foods in your face. I know all of you in New York City and Boston are pulling for your hometown teams. I hope your husbands and boyfriends have fun watching the big game tonight. And if you're looking forward to watching the game yourself, then fine. You have fun, too. Just be sure and watch those calories while you're cheering on your favorite team. Hey, the only touchdown I want you to score is seeing those numbers "touching-down" on your scales next week!
