Guest guest
Hee-hee! Yep! I had a " class graduation " last night and almost pulled a Janet twice! The first was before the performance while we were all getting dressed. I was bent over messing with a hip scarf and the center of my bra just snapped in two! Thank goodness that was backstage! I managed to sew it back (and safety pin it for good measure) and went on to perform. Then at the end of our shin-dig it was improv with all of us on stage and all of a sudden one of my shoulder straps came unhooked! I made the bra myself so it is super stiff and wasn't going anywhere but I turned my back and did snakey arms off the stage, rehooked and danced back on! It was hilarious! I have such a warped sense of humor I even found it funny at the time! Of course that's because nothing flopped out! Guess its time for me to make a new costume too! e PS: I think I still have a pic of me in that costume (for Halloween) as my profile pic. > e: > You a belly dancer??? Girl...me too! Guest guest
\> Hey Mandi! > Can you recommend a good belly dancing dvd? thanks! > gina , I used to belly dance for many years (7) before I took a hiatus 2 years ago. So, I do have some experience, but I decided to go back to square 1 and re-train my body to do these moves. I researched (that means I asked all my friends!) and decided that the best bet is the 3 pack dvd set of Jillina. It costs about $49 for all 3. I got mine at Borders, but it's also available on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/- /B0000CEB69/qid=1080743465/sr=8-5/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i5_xgl74/102- 6201007-7348167?v=glance & s=dvd & n=507846 (looks like they're out. I think buy.com also has it, or you can buy them seperately) I know Jillina. I've taken workshops with her. She is currently touring the country with the Bellydance Superstars. Her instructional dvd (the first one) is very good, and she explains the moves really well. I think you could learn some good technique from her dvd. There are others out there, but as dancers, they just aren't as good as Jillina. If you have any other questions, feel free to email me! ----Mandi

Guest guest
Donna, In the one video I did " Sizzler " she wasn't bad. Honestly, sometimes I don't mind her personality as it is nostalgic of when I first started working out (with her lifetime series) when I was about 12. Other days it grates on me like a chalk board. In order to conquer the addict in me. I taped her Lifetime shows the other morning and did them today as my workout. I do major modifications to up the intensity and do crazy stuff to keep my heart rate up during commercial break. Its like I'm doing a different workout while is playing on the TV, but it works. I'm going to attempt half of the toning tape later. I hope. I have A LOT of housework to do. That and I might be walking with a friend. So we'll see. I had a couple of her Pilates and yoga tapes but I loaned them out (I never learn) and never got them back and have lost contact with that person. I really liked them. I rarely do hour long yoga tapes as I don't have that kind of patience. I have a Baron Baptiste tape that I have never finished. The only hour long tape I like is the NAC (National Aerobics Champions) Cardio Yoga. I know this sounds very strange, but the tape is almost sensual. If I weren't smitten with my guy, I'd be checking out the guy too. Anywhoo, 20 minutes is usually my max on yoga. If you haven't checked out Rodney Yee from Living Arts by the way. I highly reccomend him!! a > Hi a, > > I know the addict well...I'm doing all I can to avoid impulse purchases but > it is NOT easy!! Guest guest
Hi a, I hear you on the nostalgia thing - I have a few Jane Fonda's for that reason!! Actually her Step & Stretch tape isn't bad at all. I've never heard of NAC Cardio Yoga...I've seen some of the NAC tapes - Measured Intensity, et al. but never that one. HMM...something to think about. I like Rodney Yee - I have a few of his yoga tapes - some shorter ones from Living Arts, plus some longer ones like Power Yoga and Yoga Conditioning for Athletes. The Yoga for Athletes is very good and can easily be broken down into three sections. Take care!! Enjoy the weekend! Donna > >Donna, >In the one video I did " Sizzler " she wasn't bad. Guest guest
Yep, I recently got fennel for the first time, and the directions said they take longer- about ten days. I am on day nine. Dag-gone it! I let 'em go too long between rinses, and I think they dried out. Tiny fragile little suckers, and they dry out fast! I've watered 'em, and hoping for the best, but... just not sure right now... Oooops.
