Guest guest
WEEDS Thursday, 15 March 2012 Spring begins next week! And those of you who enjoy gardening are probably already in your front planting spring flowers for the new season. Oh yes, get out those shovels, the hoes, the Miracle-Gro and start planting. I'm looking forward to all of the spring time flowers as they begin blooming in my own yard. A lot of people consider garden work therapeutic. And I have to agree. A lot of people consider garden work therapeutic. And I have to agree. There's something about getting out there in the soil, working with Mother Nature then, later, enjoying the results of your hard work as you see those flowers bloom. And by the way, garden work is not only good for the soul, it's a nice way to get that body of yours moving, too. But I've been thinking. Isn't this also the perfect time of year to do a little "gardening" in your mind? You gardeners will have to pull up all of the weeds that sprouted in your yards over the winter, to make space for those spring flowers. But yard-lovers know, they can't just whack down those weeds. Those weeds have to be pulled up from the ground by their roots. That is, if you don't want them growing right back. Are there any weeds growing in your mind that may hinder your weight-loss efforts? So, are there any weeds growing in your mind that may hinder your weight-loss efforts? You know, like having that second helping at dinner, knowing you shouldn't. (That's a weed.) Are you still bringing junk food into your house to snack on? (They're weeds.) Or how's about making excuses for not getting your workouts in? (Oh my, that's another nasty old weed.) And here's one I really don't like. Some of you let self-doubt and negativity settle in your minds and, trust me, nothing sets back your weight-loss adventure like not believing in yourself. (Oh dear, another ugly old weed in the garden!) Look everybody, it's time to do a little weeding in your minds. It's time to stop letting the food rule. To stop making excuses for not doing your workouts. And it's time to pull those weeds up, by the root and really start really believing in yourself and in what you can do! Those pesky old weeds! Don't you dare let them ruin the look of your home's garden. And, every bit as important, don't let those weeds in your mind get in the way of the beautiful blossoms that will become...the brand NEW YOU!
