Guest guest
WHAT'S YOUR THEME? Saturday, 16 June 2012 Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Sea World and Six Flags, oh my! Seems America and indeed, the world loves its theme parks. (Don't forget, Disney is in Europe and Japan now.) It's vacation season and that means a lot of Americans will be packing their SUVs and headed for their annual summer family vacations. And of course, many of those vacations will include a trip to one of this country's big theme parks. Why do they call them theme parks, anyway? Why do they call them theme parks, anyway? I mean, what is the real "theme" of each of those parks? Oh, I know, in the case of Disney, it's all about bringing many of their magical characters to life for the kids. (I know how much I loved seeing Mickey & Minnie on my first trip to The Magic Kingdom many years ago.) But these days, (and I guess it was always the case), the real theme at those parks is not just about having the highest, fastest, scariest roller coasters. The other theme, the one you'll find at every theme park is...food! Now come on, does that surprise you? Walk around Magic Mountain here in Los Angeles or Great Adventure over in New Jersey and take a look at the crowds. They've got churros, giant pretzels or ice cream cones in one hand while they're standing in one of those long lines to get on the Superman ride. (Just seeing that ride scares me!) Your weight-loss program should not be left at home while you're away on vacation. Look everybody, like I said, it's vacation season. And whether you end up in a theme park, visiting a national park or walking along a sandy beach, your weight-loss program should not be left at home while you're away on vacation. In fact, you should take your weight-loss program on vacation with you! For instance, if you're on my FoodMover, pack it up right along with your sunscreen because it's every bit as important. In fact, whatever weight-loss plan you may be on, please remember, your vacation is no excuse to go off program while you're away. Think about it, how good are you going to feel after a week on vacation to come home and discover you've gained five, ten or more pounds? Hey, who wants that? Your vacation time is actually a good time to stay on program. The way I see it, your vacation time is actually a good time to stay on program. Between all of that sightseeing and walking, you'll be burning more calories and that's a good thing. Now I don't want you to feel punished while you're away on holiday. Hey, I'm sure you'll want to try some of the local culinary favorites while you're seeing the USA. Just be sure to count what you eat and keep track of those calories and fat grams while you're having fun. Have a great time on vacation this summer, everybody. But while you're at those theme parks, don't forget your theme. And that is to keep working hard to lose this weight while you're at work or at play!
