Guest guest
Mold: How To Kill The Growing Threat http://www.kplctv.com/Global/story.asp?S=3938283 & nav=0nqx The damage left by Hurricane Rita for the most part has already been done. But due to the extreme moisture in the air toxic mold has become a growing problem for many homeowners. Dr. Foch from the Office of Public Health says it's not good for your health. Simple symptoms include watery eyes and runny and itchy nose. If ignored these symptoms can turn into serious problems. " You can have an allergic reaction a worsening of your asthma condition or something called hypersensitivity humanitixe, " says Dr. Foch. Dr. Foch suggests removing all moisture, including any standing water. Once that's done, then attack the mold, but make sure to protect yourself by using goggles, gloves and a N-95 mask. " You can use a solution of two to three cups of bleach in a gallon of water, " explains Dr. Foch. " If it's less than 10 square feet, homeowners can do it on their own. " Anything more than ten feet, Dr. Foch recommends you seek professional assistance by someone who is licencesed by the Louisiana State Board of Contractors. Foch says it's important to use good judgement and aggressive action as insurance companies will scrutinize exactly what policyholders did to make sure the initial harm to the house wasn't worsened by neglect.
