Guest guest
I WANT MY BODY BACK! Friday, 13 July 2012 So, you're in your mid-30's or 40's. You're standing in front of the mirror in your undies and, truth is, you're not really all that pleased with what you see. There's a little pudge hanging around your stomach and waist. You raise your arms above your head and, oh my, you think, "My underarms never used to jiggle like that!" Your chin is beginning to droop a little and you sure don't like that, do you? After that close-up examination of your body, you think back to your high school days. After that close-up examination of your body, you think back to your high school or college days. You think back to having your first baby, your second or maybe even your third child. Back then, you weren't all that concerned about the weight-gain. Everybody told you "it's normal" to gain weight when you're pregnant and the extra pounds would easily come off...after the baby was born. But, to your disappointment, none of those pounds came off. In fact, you may have gained even more weight after your children were born. You walk away from the mirror and pull out a family scrapbook. Oh, just look at those photos of you on your wedding day. You were only a size 8 back then and looked like such the fashion model. But you figure that Elle magazine is not going to be calling you for a photo shoot anytime soon, not with your having to struggle squeezing into a size 16 skirt! The more you look at those photos, the more those memories of the old you fill your head. The more upset you get until you finally find yourself blurting out...I want my body back! Looks like all of those days spent with your girlfriends at fast food places have caught up with you. Oh, my! You catch yourself screaming those words and you're just a little embarrassed. (You hope the kids didn't hear you!) But may I ask you something? Where did your body "GO?" For all of those years since you looked so good in everything you wore, what have your eating habits been like? I guess all of those days spent with your girlfriends at fast food places have caught up with you. And when you were pregnant, did you listen to those people who told you it was okay to have that second helping of pasta at dinner time? "Oh, go ahead," they'd say. "You're eating for two now!" Uh-huh. But now you see their advice was not so great and the way you feel about your body today is proof. On top of all that, since your school days and while you were pregnant, you're not nearly as active as you used to be. I mean, aside from your everyday activities, you spent absolutely no time exercising. Oh, why bother. Besides, you were just "too busy," right? Okay, time for a reality check, everybody. Whether you're 28, 38, 48 or as old as me...64, you cannot get careless about the way you eat and about how much time you devote to working out. Whether your weight problem began when you were young or later in life, the results of not eating the right foods in the right amounts and not exercising are the same. You're gonna gain weight! Yep, it's just that plain. Want your body back? Well, the good news is that you can have it back. Want your body back? Well, the good news is that you can have it back. How much weight do you have to lose. 20 pounds? 50 pounds? 100 pounds...or more? Please don't fret about your weight. Get to work doing something about it. I know you want this and the good news is...you can have this, too. I want you to walk right back to that mirror, take another good look at your body and, this time, don't be so hard on yourself. Don't criticize yourself for having gained the weight. Don't feel hopeless about how much weight you've gained. Now, after that second look at your body, look directly into your eyes, make the promise to do it and get ready to put yourself on the right track to...taking your body back! You can do it!
