THE STALKERS!

Tuesday, 03 July 2012

Oh, yes...they're out there. The

stalkers! But

these stalkers are ones you don't have to fear. See,

I'm talking about celery

stalks. When it comes to losing weight, celery

is one of the first foods most people think of. But,

I'm sorry to say, a lot of people don't think of

celery in such a good way. You know what I mean.

They think of it as a bland, almost flavorless diet

food. But may I tell you something? I don't look at

celery that way at all.

I'm sorry to see that celery gets such a bum

rap.

My friend from The

Food Network, a Dean,

besides her love for butter in many of her recipes,

uses three ingredients she refers to as "The

Trinity." They would be onions, bell pepper and

celery. Hey, a, those are three staples in my

fridge's vegetable bin, too. I never run out of

them. But...I'm

sorry see celery always getting such a bum rap.

I love munching on a nice stalk of celery while

preparing a recipe that calls for the trinity of

vegetables. And you know what the nice thing about

celery is? It's one of the fabulous

freebies on my FoodMover plan. That means you

can eat all the celery sticks you want without having

to count them. They have so few calories which is

why we call them "freebies." In fact, celery is often

referred to as a negative-calorie food because

your body spends almost as many calories burning

the calories as

there are found in a stalk of celery. (Sounds like a

pretty good deal to me!) But hold on, just because

they have so few calories doesn't mean those celery

stalks aren't doing your body a world of good.

Celery has been used for centuries in Asia as

a folk remedy for high blood pressure.

Did you know that celery has been used for centuries

in Asia as a folk remedy for high blood pressure?

Well, it seems those ancient Asians may have been on

to something. The University of Chicago Medical

Center put that claim to the test and guess what? It worked

like a charm! Celery was found to be a very

useful food for helping to lower your blood

pressure. It was found to relax the muscles of the

arteries that regulate blood pressure, allowing the

blood vessels to dilate. Not only that, celery was

also found to reduce "stress hormones" in the blood,

another major cause of high blood pressure.

Celery is also rich in vitamin C, which helps support

your immune system. Want more good news about those

celery stalks? Well, I've got some. Celery is high

in potassium and it's an excellent diuretic, sending

you to the bathroom more often as it helps cleanse

your body of harmful toxins. Who knew that almost

calorie-free celery could do so

much good for your body?

Celery's gonna make your body stronger as you

work to lose that weight.

So, just like me and a Deen, make sure that you

never run out of celery. It's one of your body's

weight-loss friends and, at the same time, it's gonna

make your body stronger as you work to lose that

weight. Now that's the kind of stalker I want following me around!

C-r-r-r-r-u-n-h! Celery

stalk, anyone?

Love,
