Guest guest
DOUBTING THOMAS Thursday, 28 June 2012 If you remember your Sunday school lessons, then you should remember Doubting . He was the skeptical Apostle who didn't believe Jesus was really himself after being crucified and miraculously coming back to life. That Bible story gave birth to the dictionary term...Doubting . Here's the definition: a person who insists on proof before he or she will believe anything. I pointed out to my Clubhouse members that some of them had become just like Doubting . I was talking with some of my Clubhouse members in one of our weekly chat and I pointed out that some of them had become like Doubting . But I kind of let them off the hook for being doubters because, truth is, their tendency to doubt themselves had actually been kind of built into them. How? Well, see if any of these stories sound familiar to you. How many times were you told by someone close to you, (maybe even a parent), that you would never amount to anything? Or you were constantly told how lazy you were. You never clean your room. You don't apply yourself hard enough in school. You're doing this or that wrong. Why can't you be more like your big sister or your athletic cousin, . Oh, my! Okay, your parents were probably trying to be helpful with their criticisms and coax you to try harder. But, truth is, their constant reminders of all the things "you couldn't do right" have stuck with you all of these years. You may have even had so-called "friends" or family members who didn't make things any better by reminding you, day-in-and-day-out, that you just didn't have what it takes to become a success at anything. Boy, who needs friends like that, huh? After hearing so many negative things about yourself when you were younger, you've turned into a Doubting about...yourself. But the real tragedy is that all of those negative comments have turned you against yourself. I mean, here in your adult life, after hearing so many negative things about yourself when you were younger, you've turned into a doubting about...yourself. And now, there you are, wanting so much to lose weight and you're filled with self-doubt. Well, may I tell you something? Self-doubts leads to pouts. And the two combined only make it that much harder for you to BELIEVE in yourself! If you're reading this message and find yourself wondering WHY you can't lose weight, then I can guarantee you that self-doubt is at least part of the reason why. You've had all of those negative ideas piled into your mind over the years that you doubt you can accomplish anything in your life. Oh, ye of little faith! Those negative words you grew up hearing were just that...words! The original Doubting wanted proof and now I've got a little proof for you. Everyday, I meet and talk to people who started out just like you, convinced they could never reach their goals by losing the weight they needed to lose. But guess what? After ridding themselves of the doubt, by taking that all important first step toward believing in themselves and in what they COULD DO, they begin to chip away at the walls of self-doubt they'd allowed others to build around them. I say it's time to rid yourself of that self-doubt. It's time to tear down those walls! You are not a failure. You can do anything you set your heart to doing if you'll only get started, work hard and believe in yourself...everyday! Don't be a Doubting ! Hey, I used to doubt myself, too. 50 years ago, if you had said to me that one day, I'd lose over 100 pounds and make a career out of helping others lose the weight they needed to lose, I would've laughed at you first then told you...I doubt it! But look at me today. My own life is proof and, the good news is there are thousands of other success stories I can tell you about to offer you even more proof. So don't be a Doubting ! Stop the doubts. Stop the pouts. And START the adventure. It's time to...PROVE yourself TO yourself. No doubt about it! Love,
