I added in what I call 'structured exercise' (walking on purpose, exercise DVDs, etc) 2 weeks ago:

The first week, I gained 5.8 lbs (I kid you not!) Of course, PMS or TOM could have played a role in there too.

Now,

I have released 4 lbs in 4 days, so it's swinging the other way again.

I haven't been eating like crazy (may be inadvertently following 4/2, if my mental recollections of my food journal serves me correct, though). Side note there, this refers to Medifast's eating plan normally 5/1 (5 of their meals and 1 of your own and I am more following 4/2)

I took measurements when I started adding in exercise and spot checked and have lost a couple

of inches in various areas, but my knees are retaining (aka swollen) so

I know exercise 'like that' gets it crabby and inflamed. I'm sure that

doesn't help with the on-scale side of things. I'm just making mental calculations of all things to consider with what's going on, ya know?

Now, I am going into the other lovely week of the month: PMS or wannabe-TOM (LOL) so the goal is to get through the weekend without chewing the paint off the walls and ripping off the baseboards or carpets to get extra fiber, etc in.

Chiropractor: I've gone 3 times

On

Monday (my 2nd visit) he suggested I give the massage therapy side of their practice a try, so Thursday I saw her (massage) for 30 min before him (chiropractor) went home, took a lot (ok, only 3 so 600 mg of Ibuprofen and went to bed with my ice pack.

Must have been a great cocktail, because I slept like a rock until 6:30 in the morning. Mind you, I am supposed to be at work at 5 a.m., so I was 2 hrs late for

work!

Thankfully, work supervisor is lenient with certain things, especially since I told her it was probably related to getting my neck in a happy place for a change LOL!!

I am in week 29 of MediFast

and I have to tell you: I have been in an ugly place mentally for the past two weeks, so if you're the praying sort, please pray for that devil to get out of my thoughts.

It goes like this: I was 'there' remember, researching weight loss surgery, before I 'went there' (Medifast)

I

went to their mandatory seminar and I even went to my doctor to get him

on board with a referral. And then I went on the hunt for 'the bad' and 'the ugly' that can happen with those surgeries per his nurses request before she sent over the referral. You always get told 'the good' and 'the ok' side of it. I wanted to find out the worst case scenario and of course, the rest is history, I did not get a lap band.

Well.

Boyfriend has x, y and z health issues and his bro-in-law (he's a kidney specialist, by the way, so just no regular Joe) and sister (who also has a PHD in something) suggested he needs to do something drastic to get the weight off, so he is probably 99% sure lap band is the way to

go. Because he has high blood pressure, his triglycerides are in the 700s, I cannot remember what his cholesterol is (may be in the 250 range) and he's got high sugars they're watching, so he's on the road to

needing insulin.

I look at it as diet betrayal, though. I've known the man for 12'ish years and we've been dating for 8'ish of those and

I have never seen him on a structured diet in that amount of time, so to say he's exhausted all dietary resources and needs to go the surgical

route.... ticks me off, to be honest... I mean, I am like come on, try Weight Watchers, (Craig), NutriSystem or even MF first, dude!! He

doesn't even really need to lose a lot of weight (maybe 40-60 lbs) but I

know, if he got the weight off, it would probably get him off his cocktail of daily meds.

I finally told him the same thing my doctor told me: look at the good, bad and ugly and make the best decision and I will support you, if surgery is the way you determine it has to go

-sigh-

I'm not perfect, I do not profess to be.

I have been doing *something* to lose weight for almost 8 years. Yes, I

have lost and gained some and then lost some and then gained some and am now on a losing swing again, but the key is I have stayed in it.

My

mother - god bless her - asked me if I needed money for food (MF) and I

told her no, I am well stocked on food, I just need to figure out what I

am doing, get my head out of my tush and back in the game. That I do not need an exercise or food police, just understanding and support.

I

go through this funk every so often, where I need to let my head catch up to the process, you know? It hasn't helped that I have been dealing with this neck thing. So, if Thursday's visit got something in a good place, I am thinking 2-4 more chiropractic visits may be the key, then keep things happy with massage therapy. I'll ask him, but that's where I

see things going.

I promise I am not 100% off-P, friends... I am

just not spending time online, on the blogs or anything, just dealing with the injury. Hope you are all doing well, onward and downward!!
