What a warm spirit you have. I wish I was more like you LOL. Guest guest
welcome. Do you mind me asking your age? Reason being. My Dad has neuropathy. We believe his mom had it but was not diagnosed back in the day. I have issues with my legs but my dr thinks it is RLS. So he has me on gabapetin at night. which is the neuropathy medication. Again Welcome. New Hi, My name is and I'm working on getting from 243 to 135 pounds. I just barely fit in here, but my goal is bigger than most people's in the other weight loss groups I've joined. So I thought I'd join here and get support from other people with big goals. I've been trying a lot of different things since my heaviest in 2010. I was very depressed because I'd never been that heavy. Then I decided I had to do something about it. So I've tried a bunch of different things, just keep losing interest and stop losing weight. I've been yo-yoing between 210 and 235 since I decided it was time to do something. At least the first eight pounds stayed off, but I still have over a hundred to go that I just can't seem to keep off. I need to stay focused, and would really appreciate help from you folks! Exercise has not worked well for me because I have many physical disabilities that aren't all tied to my weight. I have a hereditary neuropathy that made my feet go bad. Between that and my weight problem, I can't even go for a walk around the block without a lot of pain. Stationary bicycling works, but I don't have room for one in my dorm (I'm in college) and I hate the gym with a passion. Currently trying Weight Watchers Online and really hoping that will work better. So far, so good. 3 pounds down since joining. Looking forward to getting to know everyone! -
Guest guest
No problem. I'm 23. It really stinks to be so disabled at my age. What neuropathy does your dad have? My neuropathy is called Charcot Marie Tooth disorder (named after the first three doctors to document it). The subtype I have (1C) is very rare, less than half of a percent of the people with the neuropathy have the same genetic mutation as my family does. I was the family pincushion when the neurologist decided to determine what type the family has. They took eight large test tubes of blood out of me! When the results came back, the neurologist said that we were the only family she had seen with type 1C. It's autosomal dominant, which means that if one parent has CMT type 1C then each child has a 50/50 chance of getting it no matter what their gender. So if I decide to have kids, I'll just have to pray that they get milder cases than I have if they end up with it at all. - > > welcome. Do you mind me asking your age? Reason being. Guest guest
I am so sorry. I really thought you were going to be older. My Dad, His Mom, and my grandmother in law have/had. Not sure the exact term but it is senior neropathy. Meaning he was older. It started showing signs at about age 66 he is not 75. He just had a knee replacement last June and then had to have carpultunnel surgery do to the neropathy was started to effect his hands. I tell you I would come home and quietly cry. To see my Dads ability to walk killed me inside. I have to say he is better since knee replacement. He preaches water therapy. Guest guest
Thanks for the support. Much appreciated! I have CMT much stronger than anyone else in the family. I walk with a cane for balance. Maybe once I lose the weight I can walk without one. But right now I have to have the cane to go anywhere outdoors. Just ate breakfast. I had some fat free baked beans and a chopped up lowfat turkey hot dog. Leftovers from last night's dinner. My BF was over and I wanted to make something for dinner. I did the best I could considering my choices of ingredients and my lack of a kitchen. The protien should keep me filled up nicely until lunch. I'm so happy that I've lost about a third of the weight I want to. I guess you could call me midway through the process. Blessings! - > > welcome. Do you mind me asking your age? Reason being.
