Guest guest
Hi everybody I am suffering from MCS and someone I know from online suggested the mold connection. It made a lightbulb go off in my head...there was a huge flood in the apt above me and the ceiling came down, with all the water. The building repaired it in about a week's time. Is that enough time to let wood dry out?? This was over 2 years ago and my MCS became noticeable in that timeframe. I still live in the same apt and this summer when it got humid out, the closets started smelling extremely musty. I have had to keep the doors closed and can't wear anything in my closets, even after washing they smell musty. I realized that when the flood happened, the building did not do any work inside the closets--only the ceiling in the main room. I am currently doing some of the Shoemaker testing through my local doctor. I am wondering if I should be doing other testing as well. Like the ImmunoSciences Lab testing for mycotoxins or something along those lines. Someone just told me about mold allergy and sensitivity, which is different than the Shoemaker line of testing. I did have my apt tested but could not afford multiple samples. I got one air sample in my apt (I should have gotten the air from the closets!) and one tape sample in the closets. The inspector said it showed normal levels of mold...nothing I would react to. There was Aspergillus/Penicillum but there also seemed to be a high count of that in the outside sample. I have not worked in over a year due to this MCS and am broke. I need to be very careful about what I spend my money on. Any suggestions for additional testing/treatment?? Also, is it possible to salvage my clothes or other valuables that are sitting in these moldy closets? When I open the closet door I get a tingling in my deep sinus region but not a major reaction, so I am thinking it is not a toxic mold. Any thoughts on this? What is the best way to wash out the mold spores? Thanks!!!
