Guest guest
WHO'RE YOU GONNA TELL? Tuesday, 10 April 2012 Tell what? Okay, who're you gonna tell when you go on a weight-loss program, that's who! Well, unless you have a weight-loss partner, I think the only person who should know about your weight-loss efforts, especially in the beginning is...you! Oh, I know. You're all excited about starting your weight-loss program. But, truth is, you're a little nervous too, aren't you? Hey, it's an important decision, taking on losing the weight. I mean, just think about it, depending on how much weight you want to lose, you could very well be about to change your life, forever...for the better. And yes, it may be tempting to share your news with someone close to you. According to a New York University study, those people who announced their weight-loss plans to others, did not end up meeting their weight-loss goals. But according to a New York University study, those people who announced their weight-loss plans to others, more often than not, did not end up meeting their weight-loss goals. For one thing, those people you've announced your plans to, though well-intentioned, may actually end up getting in the way of your weight-loss efforts. For one thing, they start watching what you eat, how you eat and checking your body out to see if you've actually lost any weight so far. Some of them even become "experts" on the subject and start offering you weight-loss advice. Hey, who asked them?! LOL. But seriously, these same people can get very annoying. They may constantly ask, have you lost any weight yet? Or they may see what's on your plate and say, you're not gonna eat that, are you?! Others will constantly ask how much weight you've lost or may even say something like, I don't think you're losing weight fast enough. Oh, please! Right now, you need focus and determination...not aggravation from someone who thinks they're "helping" you! You're on a solid weight-loss program, like my FoodMover and you're eating just what you know you should be eating. Their comments on what you're eating or on how much weight you haven't lost can just about drive you nuts. And, right now, you need focus and determination...not aggravation from someone who thinks they're "helping" you! If you have to tell someone you're starting a weight-loss program, be sure it's a close friend or family member you know is going to be supportive of you. They're the kind of people who'll tell you how good you're doing without trying to tell you what you need to be doing. And the best thing is, when you don't tell so many people you're working to lose weight, in time, they'll see for themselves how good you're looking. And I've got to tell you, nothing will keep you more motivated than words like these from one of them... "Helen, you're looking so good these days! Have you lost some weight?" All of you out there who've heard those words, tell me...didn't they make you feel great!? And doesn't that kind of positive reinforcement motivate you to keep fighting and reaching for your goal? I know it does because I read it from people all the time in the e-mails I receive. Make this weight-loss adventure yours alone. Okay, make this weight-loss adventure yours alone and I think you'll do much better at reaching your goal. So, when it comes to your weight-loss plans, who're you gonna tell? Well, if you can help it, for right now, tell...nobody! Love,
