Hey Terri,

Have you looked at Bravenet.com? They have a pretty nice forum, cut and paste

into the site and also chat rooms that are free. Don't know if the chat will

work with Webtv. They also have a password script for securing pages so only

those who are suppose to get in, can. Anyhow, they have a lot of nice website

goodies that might be worth a look.

Robin,

Sounds like my bf and your bf are a lot alike! He's starting to

workout too...he started this week, but I'm starting the challenge

Monday.

He worked out really hard about 7 months ago and lost some weight

(he's not big) and gained some muscle. So he's doing what he did

before. I asked him what he ate today and he only had like 800

calories. I told him that he needed to eat way more than that or he

would just be starving himself and then he'd lose muscle. OOOPS...I

should have known...I don't know anything!!! This is the way he did

it before and he's going to do it the same way...and " if I would do

as he does I'd see results too. " ANYWAY...he doesn't have a plan

either...just eating low fat/low cal and working out.

He went to the health food store to buy his Nitrotech protein powder

and they were out so they told him to use the EAS Simply Whey...he

says now he should have waited because when he thinks EAS and BFL

are " girly. "

I can't wait for him to see!!! Anyway, good luck...we'll show them!

This recipe is from Carole Ingram, I have never tried another because I

like it so much. The peanut butter on top makes these really yummy!

Vanilla or Chocolate Protein Bar

Recipe Yields 10 Protein Bars (I cut mine in to 12)

Cost per serving: $0.50 to $0.75

Ingredients:

3 1/2 cups oatmeal (traditional, slow cook)

1 1/2 cups powdered non fat milk

1 cup sugar free syrup (I used Log Cabin)

2 egg whites

1/4 cup orange juice

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 c. natural unsweetened applesauce

4 scoops whey protein powder

Directions: Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix all dry ingredients in bowl

and blend well. In separate bowl, combine egg whites, orange juice,

applesauce and the sugar-free syrup. Blend well. Stir liquids into dry

ingredients until mixed. The consistency will be thick and similar to

cookie dough. Spread batter in a 9 " x 12 " baking dish. Bake until edges

are crisp and browned (approximately 20 minutes). Cut into 10 bars and

store in an airtight container or freeze.

NOTE: Before eating, spread 1 tbsp of Natural Peanut Butter mixed with

Splenda (for cooking) to taste. This protein bar by far is much better

then store bought! You could also use Sugar Free Fruit Preserve of your

choice!

P.s. Do not add additional protein powder to this recipe, it will not

work very well. You could eat a protein bar for breakfast along with a

few egg whites on the side (for a well-balance carb/protein breakfast).

Happy New Year!

To each and everyone of you. It's a day late, but comes with best

wishes for all. B.B.

A warm and sweetly-scented happy new year to all the members of this

big, sharing group....a worldwide network of natural perfumers that

are passionate and energetic about our lovely art.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Tonight I will be harvesting the night-blooming jasmine and orange

jasmine flowers that are scenting the air. I like quiet New Years Eve

celebrations, so it'll be me, some tincture jars, a friend over for a

light meal and champagne, and just a nice, mellow time thinking about

the past year and the year to come.

Have fun everyone, and stay safe and warm in the new year.

Anya McCoy

And the same to you list mom.................you have created a scented oasis in

this rather crazy world we live in...... thank you.

Brought tears to my eyes ......not the only one who is loving quiet

times...... My beloved's are off to lovely friends for their annual fab

party...... me... just want to quietly have a glass of champagne or two and

mull over with what has been a rather demanding, very draining and rewarding

year..... the tree is bright the fire is lit.......

Tincturing those divinely scented blossoms seems a perfectly fitting end to

what has turned out a year of progress joy and development for this wonderful

group and especially to you ..................Dear Anya............A toast hats

off and three hip hip hurrahs.....

much respect

Happy New Year To Everybody!

Just catching up on all the new posts this morning. Our broadband was

on and off yesterday (mostly off) because of a storm. I live right on

the west coast and some of the main roads in the city were impassable.

I was driving around yesterday watching the waves crashing on to the

rocks, some of the waves were over a meter high. In the middle of the

storm I spotted two men going in for a " dip " . It was cold, raining,

and there was thunder and lightning, the wind was reaching speeds of

90 miles per hour. I couldn't believe my eyes. I wouldn't even dare to

get out of my cosy car, which was rocking from side to side. Some

people in Galway swim everyday of the year in the sea (BTW the sea on

the west coast of Ireland is *always* cold even in the middle of

summer). I know Anya posted about my blog " White Witch Perfumery

Journal " a while back... well I was given a copy of Essence and

Alchemy by Mandy Aftel as a Christmas present and I decided to write

about it on my blog, not really a review, it's just about the impact

the book had on me. Check out my blog again if you remember at the end

of the day. I came up with a cool new technique last night for

constructing blends and becoming intimate with my essences. Probably

not original, but I came up with it on my own so I got a kick out of

it. I intend to post details and a photo of the technique later.

Anyway, that's my New Year contribution to the cause and while I'm

here I would just like to say thanks to Anya for being such a great

group Mom and thanks to all the experienced NP Artisans who share

their valuable knowledge with us novices and put us on the right

track. And as a group moderator I just want to say thanks to *all* the

1000+ group members who have been sharing their experiences and asking

some great questions and even the ones who are shy and sit on the

sidelines and like to learn, thanks for just being there!

....OH! Don't forget the WRITING CONTEST " A Day in the Life of a Nose "

.... remember IF YOU ARE NOT IN YOU CAN'T WIN!

Kaufman's book " Perfume " is a rare treasure indeed.

I will sign off my rant now I gotta walk the dog,

The Happiest, Healthiest, most Fragrant and Prosperous New Year Ever, to

Everyone!

A big Thank You, to Anya, as well as our Moderators. This is an

incredible group. Not only for the information, sharing, helping each

other, while propelling a whole new concept on the market, which will

have a positive impact for humanity. Yes, I think it's really that big.

Thanks to Anya and the Moderators, this is all done in an efficient

manner, keeping all the info organized and accessible, while keeping a

really huge group friendly. Not an easy task, for sure, yet they make it

seem effortless.

Thanks to everyone else, as well. The individual contributions, no

matter how big or small, the sharing of experiences, knowledge,

questions, and personal anecdotes, make this group what it is - a big

group of friends, having fun, sharing difficulties, working towards

similar goals, rather then a lecture hall. I've been amazed at the

generosity and helpfulness of individuals. Many times this coincided

with personal doubts about humanity. This group is always a reminder,

that there are many out there, wanting to make a difference, going out

of their way to help. Each one act of kindness makes an impact-even if

we can't always see it.

I have also noticed, that often someone will start a topic, while

someone else is faced with the matching challenge. Definitely a sign of

the interconnectedness, being on the same 'wavelengths " regardless how

far apart we are on the globe. Just amazing, wonderful and encouraging.

Best Wishes to All. May all your dreams come true, in perfect ways, and

perfect grace.

Brightest Blessings,

ne

Ruth

Hi Ruth

the gamut of odours as arranged by Piesse describes odours as musical notes

and their effect. He endeavors to place the name of the odour in its position

corresponding to its effect on the olfactory. So that the bouquet will be

harmonious.

Rimmel adopts a type for each class of odours and groups with materials of

similar fragrance and Crocker and uses analysis on a numerical

basis..... 1 fragrant of sweet 2. acid or sour 3. burnt or empyreumatic 4.

caprylic or oenanthic

A lover of colour and a musician I use odour classification to create range

and depth to composition....as well as intuition.

For example

ie Jasmine = C

Mint =B

in the treble section

and for bass

re:-

patchouli being C in the lower registers in fact one of the lowest

and rose = C being a note in the lower register but higher than patchouli in

notation

and all the various notes above and below...

The table of musical notes corresponding with plants is in Pouchers book

Volume II

Happy New Year and a big thanks to the mods who do such a great job.

fragrantly with a chord of Jasmine, Cedrat, Frangipani or C E G

Hi Janita,

Ya I knew it couldn't be an original idea, but it was still a

discovery I made on my own, I am not in the least bit musically

talented, wish I was, but I wonder is this the way Piesse and Rimmel

came up with the idea too?

Hi Ruth

I think beyond our creative minds we have thought patterns that like to

academically appraise and reason. For which many of us find something that can

appeal to ones reason and memory. you naturally stumbled on Rimmels

theory....subconsciously this may have been imprinted in your memory without

realisation on something you may have read posted or overheard etc.....

Dave Punshon a classical composer and jazz pianist who has known me many years

say I have synesthesia a condition in which 2 or more bodily senses are

coupled. Syn -union and esthesia - sensation...... this could be why I look at

perfume in the way I do......

Isn't it amazing how one finds a way of defining and clarifying........

Isn't life amazing......
