Guest guest
GOING GREEN! Saturday, 17 March 2012 Good morning. No, wait. Today it's...Top 'o the morning to ya'! That's right everybody, it's St. 's Day! And your little leprecaun here, (the one with the curly hair), wants to wish you all a very Happy St. 's Day! For St. 's Day, I'll be wearing a black and green tank top when I teach class this morning at Slimmons. I'm already busy here at my house this morning. Oh, I wish you could see the outfit I'll be wearing when I teach class in a couple of hours. I must say, , who designs and makes all of my workout outfits, really outdid herself this time. (By the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, !) For St. 's Day, I'll be wearing a black and green tank top. Green wings, (of course), will be complete the look. Oh, how I wish you all could be in class today with us at Slimmons to see it and...sweat with us! And tell me, what do you have planned for this St. 's Day? My father was half-Irish and he always made this day nice and green for us back home in New Orleans. He'd make this wonderful traditional Irish meal of ham, black eyed-peas and stuffed cabbage. Everything my father prepared in the kitchen was wonderful but his stuffed cabbage was one of my favorites. Maybe you'll be attending a St. 's Day parade today. Maybe you'll be attending a St. 's Day parade today in your hometown. Every year, New York and Boston, two of my favorite cites, put on the nation's biggest parades in honor of St. . If you're attending one of those parades, chances are, you'll be wearing green when you go. All over the country, people will be drinking green tea and even green beer, oh, my! But the biggest honor goes to the great city of Chicago. The Chicago River, which runs through the heart of their downtown, is actually dyed green for St. 's Day. How fabulous! So, looks like lots of people will be wearing green, drinking green and, in Chicago, even dyeing their rivers green! Well, all that's left to do is eat green! That's right, in honor of St. and his holiday, I want you all to have for lunch or dinner a big colorful salad filled with lots of green. Start with your favorite type of green lettuce and top it off with some cucumbers, bell pepper, celery and 1/8 of an avocado. Brighten your salad with some diced carrots, radishes, cherry tomatoes and fresh parsley. Add a little of your favorite low-fat salad dressing and viola! You're ready to eat green on this St. 's Day by having that colorful and tasty salad! May the luck of the Irish be with all of you today. Okay, class will be starting soon and I've got to get my green wings put on. In the meantime, have a happy, healthy St. 's Day everybody! May the luck of the Irish be with you all and, don't forget to eat green by enjoying a good-for- you salad today. Love,
