Guest guest
WE ARE THE WORLD Sunday, 18 March 2012 So, tell me, what do you weigh, over in the U.K.? How much weight did you gain, living in Spain? Do I need to come weigh ya'...in Australia? And to all my friends in Toronto, Montreal and Nova Scotia, the first three letters in your contry's name is CAN...for CAN-ada! Hey, all by itself, your country's name is a clue that you CAN lose this weight! I receive e-mails from people all over the world telling me how what they weigh is making their lives unhappy and unhealthy. Okay, so I'm having a little fun with the map this morning. That's because everyday, I receive e-mails from people all over the world telling me how what they weigh is making their lives unhappy and unhealthy. They see me on TV, they come here to read my daily message on the Web and some of them even own my DVDs. A lot of them say, , I wish we had someone like you here in my country. I've tried everything to lose this weight. Well, today's message is for those people who write me from around the world and...it's for all of you folks who live here in the good-old U.S.A., too! Whether you live in Britain, Egypt, Mexico or even The Netherlands, (and yes, I've received e-mail from all of those countries), I'm sure the foods you grew up eating are probably very different from the kinds of food we eat here in America. But the bottom line is this: no matter where you live or the kind of food you grew up on, a calorie is still a calorie. Calories have no nationality. Calories speak the same language, where ever they come from. That's right, a calorie really has no nationality. So that means the calories you eat too many of in Italy have to be burned off the same way as those calories you're eating too many of in New Zealand. You've got to burn them off and that means you've got to make exercise a regular and dedicated part of your life. As I read my e-mail from around the world, you know what becomes most apparent to me? Well, I see that we're all really the same, no matter which countries we call home. I don't think living in one country or another makes you more likely to end up obese. After all, it's not which country you live in, it's all about how much food you eat and how much exercise your body gets everyday. You're not alone over there in Australia. You're not all by yourself up in Canada. So you see, when it comes to the whole weight-loss/weight-gain thing, we're all more alike than we realize. And...you're not so alone, like so many of my overseas e-mail writers think they are. You're not alone over there in Australia. You're not all by yourself up in Canada. And to that lady who wrote me a couple of weeks ago from Brazil, so upset about her weight, you have brothers and sisters all over the world who share the same hopes and dreams as you. We are strong, stronger than the food. We can move, making these bodies of ours calorie-burning machines. We can stick together, be positive, believe in ourselves and prove, once and for all, that we can lose the weight we want and need to lose. Thank goodness for the World Wide Web. It has helped me realize that when it comes to our weight, we really are just one great family. Yes, we are the world. And, I'll tell you something else, borrowing a little a clue from our neighbor to the north, Canada, yes we CAN lose this weight.
