Guest guest
, I was hoping to hear from you so I'm glad there was a message today! I'm happy to hear that things are still going ok. The baby being correct size for dates etc. is very reassuring. How many weeks are you now? Yes, you can do bedrest for an entire pregnancy! I did it for 8 months and it can be done! I had the bleeding/cramping first, then I had an emergency circlage at 14weeks b/c I have an incompetent cervix, hence the bedrest for the remainder of the pregnancy. Ah, and no intimate contact w/ dh either.....the whole time!!! With Caelan I was on bedrest beginnning at 13 weeks when I had a placental abruption and then at 18 weeks I had a cerclage done and was on another 4 weeks of bedrest. I was then allowed modified bedrest for the rest of the preg. where I could be up but no lifting etc. and had to being laying down at least 4 hrs during the day. I began contracting at 28 weeks this time and delivered at 34.5 weeks when my water broke. Grace was up and around this whole time, but my mom came when I was on strict bedrest to help. The 8 months of bedrest, my Mom lived w/ us during the week to run the house and feed me while dh was gone. If you want to check into it there is a group called Sidelines at www.sidelines.org that helps give support to women with high risk pregnancy. I volunteer for them. Hang in there!!! Guest guest
- Thanks for such a nice e-mail -- very encouraging. It will be interesting to meet the dr. who specializes in adult congenital defects. With my regular cardio, I am a bit of an anomaly -- it seems like unless cardio's specialize in congenital stuff, they don't see TOF patients too often. They put me on Lasix and that seems to be helping the shortness of breath. I lost 5 lbs. overnight! (grin) I'm still hoping I might not need another open heart surgery, but I figure that if I do, it's better to have it done now while I'm young. Plus, my last open heart was almost 29years ago, so I'm sure technology has changed the process a lot! I have to say... I'm still REALLY glad they did the ablation, because it sure is nice not to have the v-tach happening all the time. The valve problem is a bit of a bummer, but to be honest, I've almost forgotten about my ICD over the past few days! (I know, I know ... I'm sure IT will remind me if I need it. LOL) Plus, the valve problem already existed independent of the ablation and ICD -- so maybe it's lucky I went in for the other stuff so they could catch this too. The dr. who did the TE scope was asking me a lot of questions about my younger childhood with TOF -- he seemed amazed to discover that I had an incredibly normal childhood -- even played volleyball and basketball, played in instrument, participated in drama, etc. etc. -- he seemed really delighted. I told him that I intend to live to be at least 90, so they need to keep on the TOF stuff for adults and get it all sorted out. Hope things are going well for you in Ireland -- It's great to have contact with someone else who is doing so well with their TOF! ita in Ohio Re: ita from OH ita,Glad things are turning out OK for you. I guess it was a big disappointmentwhen the post-ablation complications arose, but it's good to know they'resettling down again.Since we are the first generation of Fallot's Tetralogy patients survivingto adulthood, a lot has yet to be learned by medics about our condition. What you went through might help me if I ever need another ablation, andwhat doctors discover for me will be beneficial to you.Keep up the prayers, and thank God for the life you have lived so far andthe hope and inspiration you are giving. Guest guest
Dawn, I'm sorry you feel this way. People just have such difference personalities, and that comes through in e-mail. I think the great majority of the women here are super supportive and willing to help. Some of the ladies here do know a lot, and I like that they share their knowledge with others. I don't mind the " get your butt in gear and don't whine " mentality. Sometimes I need people to tell me that. Anyway, I wish you all the best with your challenge. Thanks I wanted to thank each of the ladies in this group who was able to offer POSITIVE feedback and suggestions during my first challenge. Guest guest
Different groups and clubs really do have unique personalities. This group tends to be loud, goofy, catty, and very opinionated... sort of like a pack of hyenas. :-) People either immediately fall in love with that brand of support, or they roll their eyes and leave. Personally, I like knowing that if I snivel about eating cookies on a non free day, someone will either a) refer me to a mental health professional, or snarl, and bite my ear off. LOL :-) Thanks I wanted to thank each of the ladies in this group who was able to offer POSITIVE feedback and suggestions during my first challenge. Guest guest
Well I, for one, like the diversity. I have quickly learned who knows what she's talking about and who just THINKS she knows. lol But I enjoy reading all the posts and find everyone here supportive and trying to be helpful. Guest guest
I've only been a member of this group for about a week and I LOVE IT! I'm so happy to get advice from knowledgable ladies, many of whom seem to be at the same stage as myself of 'fine tuning'. This is the only flood of emails I read regularly and love to participate in!
Guest guest
Another thanks ... someone on the list posted something that really triggered a mental response from me....something about how an alcohalic could never take one day a week when alcohal was " legal " and food to some of us is the same thing. It definitely is to me. My weakness is big chunky chocolate chip cookies from the bakery. I teach high school and during all facutly meetings, etc, the principal brings in trays of them and I take one and then suddenly another and then I've decided in my mind to make this my free day and I end up eating many more. Since last week was our last week of school, there were chocolate chip cookies everywhere and I NEVER TOOK A SINGLE BITE!!! I felt so strong and so empowered. Was it Dani who wrote that line in one of her posts? Whoever it was, thank you thank you thank you....a

That would be me! I did 4 BFL challenges and am now fine tuning the nutrional part to get rid of the last pounds clinging to my middle-aged belly. No more free days! I have never been able to do the moderation thing well...when I smoked years ago in college, I smoked two packs a day. If I take a bite of ice cream, its a guarantee that I am going to binge and eat however much is in the house. I'm the same way with cats...just adopeted my sixth but unlike overeating and smoking, they are GOOD for me. a
Guest guest
Hi Gail Fabio is doing very well with potty training. At present, he doesn't go to the toilet by himself, but when we sit him on the toilet he is doing 'his business'. I wonder, how it will go when we are travelling - I take tons of clothes for him, it is no problem as we are travelling by car. We will leave tomorrow morning and will go first to the mountains, Tanja my 13 yr old is at a volleyball camp in Muerren (a small village in the Alps than can only be reached by a little train - there are no cars allowed up there) from there we go to Italy and will spend one week at the beach. Guest guest
Melis, If you want to reduce temper tantrums--and, by the way, teeth grinding--why not just go with C4 SMR referenced to A2? The combination of information about night terrors (not just waking up) and the fear of bipolar makes Mom's position much more sensible--or at least understandable. I don't have a problem with mixing in some SMR. My question was why you chose to do it for a Tone problem when there didn't appear to be any aspects of Tone. Pete thanks Hi Pete, Thanks for resending your post. I'm not sure why I did not receive it before. Anyway, to answer a few questions you had...regarding sleep...mom reports no problems with onset or duration before training began...only reported grinding teeth while sleeping. I chose to add t3t4 work bc he has emotional outbursts with aggressive behaviour. His mom was upset bc of the " night terrors " after reading this is a symptom in children prior to bipolar diagnosis...his father is bipolar. not that this gives her the right to react to me as she did, but this is her real reason for being so freaked out. It sounds that you are recommending continuing B training in the parietal lobes. I think C3Pz has been a good choice for him since we've seen such positive results in regard to his reading. I'm not sure what placement to do SMR training bc I thought you did recommend doing SMR to " balance " B training. Am I missing something? Thank you for your comments.
