Guest guest
Do a search on Valley Fever, that stuff is in the dirt out West!! So don't eat the dirt or the drywall out there! > > Does anyone know if there are mold issues in Arizona? From the East coast, moving there in > a few weeks. Guest guest
The valley is very windy and there is a possibility of anything blowing in the air. When I lived there It was like a constant dust strom with all the winds. Also, if you are senistivie to pesticides beware of the drive south out of town towards Tucson, there are cotton fields and they are loaded with pesticides. Guest guest
Overall, I seem to do well camping in Arizona, after having to spend the last two winters there and in CA/Baja. Coccidioidomycosis (Valley Fever) certainly has a precendent in AZ, especially in the Phoenix valley. I have seen reports from monitoring allergists that overall environmental levels of molds in the Tucson area are not as high as Phoenix. What I did seem to experience was a lot of was buildings that I was not tolerating -- my take on this was bad swamp cooler maintainance resulting in fungal growth. Swamp coolers are prevalent in AZ, as the overall low humidity meakes them very efficient, vs. AC. As I am not MCS, I can't comment on the prevalence of chemicals in the overall environment, but by and large, most of the state is comprised of Upper Sonoran kitty litter -- agricultural development is not as pervasive as in, say, CA. General allergies are pretty reasonable, except for March/April, when the xerophilic urban landscaping plants pollenate statewide. Then it's murder. > > > > Does anyone know if there are mold issues in Arizona? From the East > coast, moving there in > > a few weeks. Guest guest
Thank you , I am on my way to Casa Grande (between Phoenix and Tucson) to " dry out " . I am unable to go into any buildings without a mask at present except for my home. SO I will not delude myself into thinking that buildings will be safe there. I had noticed on visits there before that many buildings had ventilation problems, moldy air. Not sure what a swamp cooler is? One year I visited in May and did notice that allergy was a big problem. Regardless I am looking forward to the lack of humidity and outdoor life! Bobbie > > > > > > Does anyone know if there are mold issues in Arizona?
