Guest guest
Shari, Any Dr. can order a mycoplasma test. The most accurate is Mycoplasma species by PCR test. THere are only a few recommended labs for myco testing. Immunosciences Lab in Calif. you can call them and get a blood drawing kit and take it to your Dr. then fed ex the blood their website is http://www.immuno-sci-lab.com/ and Institute for Molecular Medicine www.immed.com, those two have the most sensitive tests available. Good luck Barbara
Guest guest
What kind of dr would I go to to test for the mycos? I have been trying for three wekks to get an appt w/ an infectious disease doc and am having a hard time. My primary gave me a referral to see a certain doc she recommended to get to the bottom of my sinus problems and they actually denied me an appt - made me submit a letter saying why I thought I needed to see him then called yeaterday and denied my request for an appt. It is the crazyist thing I have ever seen - I went into detal about the implant contamination and the chronic sinus and yeast inf. I called my primary yesterday to tell her that they would not give me an appt and she freaked - called them herself so hopefully I can get in there soon. the problem is that there aren't a ton of these specialists on every corner and this was the only close one. I was wondering if he could test for it or if there was a different specialist I need to seek out. The sinus infection is back with a vengance after a entire month of Biaxin. Friday lost my voice and didn't get it back until this morning (barely) and my two year old broke out in terrible hives on Sunday. I can't seem to catch a break here!! then a doctor that I was referred to's secretary denies me an appt... she is lucky I didn't feel good enough to drive over there and give her a good yelling at in front of other patients. Shesssh. Waht is going on in the doctor world today!!! sorry for the venting - I have had 2 hours of sleep in the last three days so I am a little kooky right now! Love Shari

Guest guest
sHARI, My infectious disease doc tested for mycoplasma, but any doc can do it. The key is that only certain labratories are able to do the test, therefore the infectious doc might have better resources. Most of them have a specialty lab that know what they are doing. My test said, " Mycoplasma IGG and IGM. " I think the lab was ESOTERIX, he also sends some stuff to SPECIALTY labratories. Good luck! Ann What kind of dr would I go to to test for the mycos? Guest guest
Shari, I think infectious disease Drs. aren't very understanding about mycoplasma either. The one I went to here teaches and lectures at Boston University medicine school and still didnt think myco was a problem. He said I may have low levels in my tissues but he really didnt want to treat it. He said its usually confined to an area, blah blah blah and said I probally had a false positive and then he said the lab I used wasnt certified, etc. But somehow I got him to give me antibiotics and he wanted me to use the short term high dose but I am doing the 3x a week on my own. I have no other choice but to kinda do my own treatment. But sorry for all this rambling but I just wanted to let you know I had experience with 2 infectious disease drs(the other a yr ago) and they were not very open minded. Guest guest
It's not just the infectious disease doctors that are idiots, it is all of them, when it comes to something about implants.
