Guest guest
Hi , and everyone else! I've also just joined this week and even though the issue of vaccine has been with us for a while (we have a 17 month old daughter) we're still don't know enough. After long and hard thinking we've decided not to vaccinate in spite of the constant pressure we get from family, doctors pediatricians etc. Now we're thinking of getting our daughter into day care part time and are facing the vaccination dilemmas all over again. Did any of you filed for a philosophic exemption at all? In MA is the only thing open to us. Also, for those of you who chose not to vaccinate AT ALL, do you seek homeopathic care or natural remedies? Love to hear back, it's a lonely and difficult road we're on :-) Tal Re: Newbie Intro Hi , welcome. I know you will be glad you joined. There is lots to learn. Sorry you had to learn the dangers of vaccines the way you did. I was lucky that my child didn't have adverse reactions. I have only vaxed her to 2 years old. My second child hasn't recieved any at all. Good to see you here anyway. Fieldman Newbie Intro Hi, I'm new and just thought I should introduce myself. My name is . I'm a SAHM of 3 ages 10, 7 and 4 months. I'm here because my poor sweet 4 month old dd had a seizure a little more than a week ago. The seizure was NOT febrile. It occured about 6 hours after receiving several vaccines. She tensed then went limp. Her eyes were rolling around, it was like she wasn't " there " . She went pale, then grey, then her feet were turning blue as the ambulance arrived. (thank God they got there quickly) After a short stay in the PICU she is now home and seems to be just fine. I'm trying to do as much research as possible on vaccines and I'm just so overwhelmed at how much " junk " I have been allowing to be put into my kids' bodies. Well, thanks for having me. I hope to learn alot and gain/give support here. Illinois --------------------------------- Take the Internet to Go: Go puts the Internet in your pocket: mail, news, photos & more. Guest guest
Welcome, Tal (and other new members!). You've come to the right place for information and support. We haven't vaxed in about 8 years and only use homeopathy and chiropractic. My children are now 16 and 17. We have a religious exemption for school now and have never had a problem with it. Never having dealt with daycare, I'm not sure what to tell you about that one. I know there are others here who have though. Hopefully they will chime in. Guest guest
I believe that you should be able to. Even if for a religious exemption you must state that you recently learned that aborted fetuses were used in the process of making them and that now knowing this fact that you cannot accept them without going against your sincerely held religious beliefs. And if that is a stretch for you to say, then go with it anyway as it is the narrow way in which we are allowed to claim religious exemption in states that do not have philosphical exemptions. We should be able to object on any grounds but unfortunately we cannot yet do that in most states. In a message dated 6/1/2008 9:42:59 P.M. Guest guest
What I meant to say was that you can claim a religious exemption and that is supposed to be all that you would have to do. In your heart and mind though are your religious reasons, one which might be the abortion aspect. Like Sheri said, you do not have to explain your religion. You certainly have the right to have had a religious conversion that would change your stance on vaccination at any given time in your life. That is really none of their business though I know in some states they try to tell you that it is. Guest guest
Does anyone know if you put an exemption in for one child and not the other if that will cause issues. My daughter is enrolled in Catholic School and is up to date with shots. My son on the other hand is up to date as well, but we live in NJ and requires a flu shot for preschool. I was not putting him in this year so I had not problem and put my daughters immunization record in with the Catholic school already. My son suffers from delays and I may have to put him in a special needs preschool this year. He really needs to get extra help and see others like himself, to feel more confident and be more successful. His therapists said it would be very beneficial. I guess I was in denial, and figured I could help him and his therapists and that was enough for now. Any suggestions? Do you think I would have a problem, or being that they will not be attending the same schools it should be ok? I know probably not, but I figured it was worth a shot asking some of you well informed mamas. Thanks, Jen
Guest guest
I doubt it would be a problem, if you can count on the school nurses not giving out private info on students. But why aren't you exempting both children? You know your daughter will be required to get more vaccines at some time. I suppose if it's working, don't rock the boat but just curious. Guest guest
I plan to put my daughter in public school next year and I will be putting in the exemption then. I did not put in an exemption with the private school and I don't know if they will accept it. I never asked because I didn' t plan on putting my son in school this year. I decided we will wait because the public school has no option but to accept it. I have no idea about the school nurses, I never met them. Thanks for the info.  I appreciate it. Guest guest
I'm sure you've already thought of this, and I don't know if it's true for preschool, but public schools will provide those special services at no cost to you. I suppose you'll choose based on the quality of services, but financially it's pretty appealing. Guest guest
Look here: http://www.nvic.org/Diseases/meningitisfacts.htm Meningitis would be a risk for college students because of risky behavior (drinking, smoking, eating poorly) by newly independent teenagers. That's why it's recommended mostly for freshmen. As with any disease, you need to take care of yourself. If you're freaked out about meningitis--and after your nephew's experience, that is certainly understandable--you should remain freaked out if your child is vaccinated because vaccines don't work. If your nephew was 18, was he in college? Was he vaccinated? Winnie Re: exemption Vaccinations > > > > > > > Okay everyone, does anyone here worry about meningitis? Guest guest
I have a quick question. Do you think it is better to have your exemption letter notarized by a lawyer(vaccine exemption)? Guest guest
I never have done it. I think it's fine to go into it with the attitude that it's not a big deal, that you are merely claiming your legal right. You could always involve a lawyer later if you felt the need to.
