Hi ,

Sorry you weren't able to be at the picnic. It was a lot of fun to

put names and faces together.

How are you doing since your revision? I hope you are feeling much

better by now. I haven't seen you post for a while. Let us know how

you are doing.

Hi ,

I was just thinking about you lately and wondering how you were doing.

How are you doing since your revision?

BTW, Your name came up when I was talking with Dr. R. this past Tuesday about a

revision (I need to lose more weight).

I hope you are doing well and that we will get to see you at the " Holiday Party "

December 15th!

Hey ladies, I've missed you all so much! Just wanted to say hi and

give a little update. I've been busy and we've had company here from

out of town and unfortunately I haven't been feeling the greatest.

I'm really fighting the pain and the fatigue. The good thing is that

the pain medicine helps and so does rest. My only source of income

is getting some kids on and off the bus and watching my grandson

while my daughter works. He's a handful sometimes but he takes a 3

or 4 hour nap every afternoon. I don't know how much longer that

will last, but I hope it's a while!

I went to a new rheumatologist a few weeks ago and I gave him my

health history without any emphasis on the implants. When we were

through, he asked me if I thought my illness could be related to the

implants. I told him it was a possibility! I think he will come to

that conclusion on his own. The other times I went to doctors I told

them what I thought was wrong and that the implants were definitely

the cause and they were offended. This time I let him put 2 & 2

together.

Also, I wanted to let you all know that my husband and I are doing

much better. I know I painted a picture of him as being a jerk and I

admit that sometimes he is but he's been much better lately. The

things I said about him before were things that were mostly in our

past that should have been forgiven. I'm ashamed of myself for

holding a grudge. I should know better than that.

I'm going to try to keep up with what's going on here. I feel lost!

Dianne,

First off, Congrats to you for

beginning your new life!!!

Your situation sounds a lot like mine.

I was banded 8/27 of 2004. I lost about

10 lbs the first week & then NOTHING

for a while...it was REALLY slow going

for me until my fills. I have had 2 fills

total at this point.

Please don't get discouraged, you are

not supposed to be concerned about

weight loss so much at this point..let

your body heal up & get your fill & then

the magic will really happen!

Good luck to you! I am sure you will

be so glad you had the procedure!

Diane ~

When is your next appointment? I know that my doctor gave me a fill at 4 weeks

which I thought was soon, but I wasn't losing much anymore and my appetite seem

to be creeping back up. I am so thankful that he did that! I am now at about 5

weeks and I can only eat small amounts again and I'm back on the losing track.

I'm down 8 more lbs since my visit 1 week ago.

Hello everyone, my name is Dianne and I live in Ft. Worth, TX. I was

banded on August 23,2005. At my post op appointment last week, I had

lost 11 pounds. YAY!!! While at that appointment, my doctor said I

could now move to the pureed stage of the diet- which was a surprise

as I had expected to be on liquids for a couple more weeks.

I have not lost any more weight since the 11 pounds the first week. In

fact, my weight seems to have gone up. I find this discouraging and am

curious as to if this is normal or not? Has any one else had this, or

a similar experience? Also, I am hungry these days and my stomach does

not seem to stay full. Any advice?

Thanks-

Diane, You can get the first fill safely at 6-8 weeks- no sooner, as

there a relots of slips if fills are given before that time, as the

band's sutures and scar tissue are not secure before that time. Several

studies have clearly shown this.

It's very common to lose a bit while on fluids right sfter surgery, and

then regain some as you progress to solid foods. Your doc should have

discussed this with you, so you're not worried now.

This is why we always say the first 6-8 weeks are for healing, not for

weight loss. The real band loss does not start until you get to a good

fill level, usually after several fills a month apart.

If you take care to follow the band rules pretty well, restrict your

intake to nutritious foods, and keep calories in check, you can still

lose some good weight even before a good fill - but it's harder. A good

calorie goal at this point is about 2000 calories. After a good fill,

1200-1500 cal a day - no less - is a good goal and results in good,

safe weight loss for women.

Don't be too impatient to get fills. Use this time well to learn what

you need to know about good nutrtiion and good band habits. Then, when

you get to that good fill, your serious weight loss will begin.Sandy R
