RE: Question about TB testing for HCW's

I know if you work in a hospital - no. JCAHO requires it, I believe. I

opted for a chest x-ray after refusing the skin test - said I was allergic

to phenol. They were NOT happy and made a great big deal about it. The

employee health nurse kept telling me the skin test is safe for pregnant and

nursing moms (I'm nursing) and I had to keep telling her, " it's not that "

(choke), it's that I'm allergic. :-) So I opted for what I believe is the

lesser of two evils.

But there is an alternative blood test, described on the page above

Will have to research if it is available in your area.
