Guest guest
and antacids OK..all well and good----- However, I’ve had to start popping Tums b/c it’s the only thing that works on my tin can throat. It feels like it’s on fire sometimes and it wakes up at night. I get it at the drop of a hat.. I roll over.. go from fine to “nasty”… so I pop a couple of tums and it helps. I’m so desperate right now.. it’s just nasty feeling. It’s right in the back of my throat and I can’t find the right remedy to get rid of it so in desperation I popped some tums and it worked. They have talc in them too and I’m not liking that but I’m due soon and this is the last one, for sure (unless God shows me who’s boss).. I’m not expecting to be expecting again and I only get the tin can throat while pregnant. I’ve tried nux, lyc and carbo-v..none of them really help. Guest guest
I used aloe vera gel for the severe heartburn I had while pregnant. It worked pretty well, and laying on your left side helps to keep the acids from moving their way further up your esophagus. I also ate alot of chocolate malts, worked GREAT on the indigestion! Unfortunately they also caused me to have to birth a 9+ lb baby LOL Hollie > RE: antacids was Re: Anyone? > Anyone? > > > > > > > and antacids > > > OK..all well and good----- However, I've had to > start popping Tums b/c > it's the only thing that works on my tin can throat. > It feels like it's > on fire sometimes and it wakes up at night. Guest guest
What is it listed as an ingredient? There is no aluminum in tums but there is talc. I don’t like the talc but it works Chocolate malts sound good except for the diabetes Nita, Mom to: 14, Jon 13, 10, 8, 6, Christian (7/16/03 to 8/22/04), 2 and Isaac due Feb. 08 Learn from the mistakes of others. Guest guest
That means you aren't digesting properly. Try digestive enzymes instead, take them every day at every meal. Instead of Tums, you can take a calcium/magnesium chewable supplement. Works just as well, but without the added crapola. Guest guest
Hmmm. I will try that. I have some enzymes for the dog that say I can use them too, they’re just big sized. Guest guest
I have vinegar tablets would those do? I do have some lemon juice. No lime. I have some white vinegar for my laundry I can pilfer from. I will try that next time which I’m sure is around the corner. I took vinegar tablets for my sugar problems b/c someone said that it helps but I haven’t taken them yet for this pregnancy. I guess I forgot I did that Nita, Mom to: 14, Jon 13, 10, 8, 6, Christian (7/16/03 to 8/22/04), 2 and Isaac due Feb. 08 Learn from the mistakes of others. Guest guest
I will try the vinegar tablets then. I tried a spoon of lemon juice last night but it didn’t last longer than 5 minutes so I ended up taking a tums too b/c it works and right now I just want to be comfortable in any way I can since it’s hard to be comfortable nowadays. I’ll send baby vibes to you. my dh only asked for 3 and however many I had after that he considers a bonus ..though I have to say, it’s sure getting harder to do the baby thing. I’m ready to move on to the next season. And 23? Tell him to get a move-on… I had 2 by the time I was 23.. wanna do it while you’re young and think you have energy and believe me, it’s easier to loose the weight before 30 hits than it is after 30 hits! I gained 50 pounds with my first and that weight was totally gone by the time she was 9 months. Now 9 months later, I’ve only lost a fraction.. it’s terrible. I do loose everything I gain by 6 weeks though, for the last 2 babies. That’s been nice and I think I’ll have that again.. now it’s just the rest of the weight from peter and I have to loose Too bad they don’t make a melt the fat “vaccine”..something useful ;o but yk, even if they did, I probably wouldn’t do it b/c of all the junk they put in the shot so oh well. Just have to loose it the old fashioned way! Nita, Mom to: 14, Jon 13, 10, 8, 6, Christian (7/16/03 to 8/22/04), 2 and Isaac due Feb. 08 Learn from the mistakes of others. Guest guest
Hi Nita -- As someone else suggested, you may want to try digestive enzymes and I'd also suggest Pre and Probiotics. Guest guest
Hi, I'm new to the group. Couldn't help but get in on the heartburn issue. As someone said previously, the burn is from having a lack of stomach acid. One shouldn't drink any liquids for 30 mins. before, during and 30 mins. after a meal. The liquid dilutes the stomach acid required for the digesting, so the contents are still in the gut and basically fermenting, and making their way up the esophagus. Lovely...anyway, I've had great luck with eating an apple at the first hint of heartburn, and for me, Fuji's work best. Also, particularly if I'm eating out and don't have access to an apple, I will chew a stick of gum right after a meal. I guess the chewing part must get the stomach acid producing, because when I do it, I get relief quickly. Good Luck,
