Guest guest
It says in this article that when vaccination rates for measles in Britain plunged, that measles soared and hundreds were hospitalized and at least three died. Is this true? Guest guest
Vaccination News has this to say... *As far as the legitimacy of AMA hysteria over declining measles rates in the UK and alleged " multiple deaths " is concerned, here is what the BBC reported in November, 2007: " The disease is so serious that last year, for the first time in 15 years, there was a measles death in the UK. And we've discovered that in the last few months one child ended up in the Homerton Hospital Intensive Care. " (** http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/content/articles/2007/11/13/insideout_141107_feature\ ..shtml *<http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/content/articles/2007/11/13/insideout_141107_featu\ re.shtml> *) The AMA is insulting our intelligence with these misleading statements. * On Jan 29, 2008 1:02 PM, Vida Khan <vidamarino@...> wrote: > It says in this article that when vaccination rates for measles in > Britain plunged, that measles soared and hundreds were hospitalized > and at least three died. Parents' stories are excellent as well as we need that too. But as in all stories, we need medical professionals to make this a go. I'm a grandma and a retired educator of young children, and it always bothers me that medical professionals have to have a say in every controversial topic that involves health. I understand a medical person makes the story more credible. I have a daughter in news who tries to explain to me why a medical person's opinion is always a must. I get that. But medical opinions are usually biased. I still find it upsetting that the parents who live with autistic children haven't had much credibility with the media. Parents live with these children 24/7. They provide the best information about when their child first displayed autistic tendencies, how their child reacts in every day life, what methods they use to help their child, etc. IMHO, the parents are the authority. But me saying my son has autism isn’t going to get him the services he needs, for some things have to have the official dx. It’s frustrating beyond belief. Hand in hand with why do they push vaccines so much when they’re not the ones living w/ the consequences? It’s not any skin off their nose to say “here, have this vaccine” and then have damage done…. They don’t care. It’s very easy for them to say ‘oh it wasn’t the vaccine’ when the day before the kid was fine and the day after he isn’t… and then to doubt the parent b/c they’re not medical experts. Most doctors have a PRACTICE. They’re PRACTICING! They don’t know for sure if they get things right. Has any doctor been there to hold my hand when kids at church shun my daughter for her asperger’s and the total lack of social qualities? No. it’s heart breaking to see them reach out in the beginning and she just looks at them. She d/n know what to do with them and we work with her constantly.. they don’t reach out so much anymore._._,___ Nita, Mom to: 14, Jon 13, 10, 8, 6, Christian (7/16/03 to 8/22/04), 2 and Isaac due Feb. 08 Learn from the mistakes of others. Guest guest
Our society in general gives more credence to those with letters after their names. It gives the illusiong that this person somehow knows what they're doing - which we all know isn't universally true. Unfortunately, it's ingrained into our thinking as a society as many other things are. No letters behind your name must mean you don't have any idea what you're talking about. We all know that there are some very educated people out there who have no formal training in their areas of expertise and those out there with very high level degrees who are complete knuckleheads. Those who want to be taken seriously by the rest of society and have an ounce of credibility choose to play the game (if only on the surface) and get the degree/training. It's not right, but that's the unfortunate way of things. -- Roni Bergerson Independent Monavie Distributor Celebrate Good Health with Monavie! http://www.mymonavie.com/jandrbergerson/ -------------- Original message -------------- From: " Venita Garner " <nitagarner@...> > > > I still find it upsetting that the parents who live with autistic > children haven't had much credibility with the media.
