Guest guest
‘Baba’ claims AIDS cure, Govt supports Kumar Shakti Shekhar, Bhopal, August 17 MOVE OVER medical scientists and physicians. sadhus and sants are here to treat dreaded diseases like AIDS. Even the State Government seems to be aiding them in their endeavour. And why not, when Chief Minister Uma Bharti herself has announced she would engage religious personalities in evolving alternative development strategies. On the instructions from project director Salina Singh, the staff of the Madhya Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (MPSACS) is these days trying to locate AIDS patients who could be treated by Baba Shree Nirvikar Path through spiritual methods. The Baba resides at BJP MLA Jalam Singh Patel’s house here. Patel, younger brother of former Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel, claims that the AIDS patients get relief after following Baba’s instructions. Talking to the Hindustan Times, Patel Jr claimed that Baba’s treatment of AIDS patients includes giving up of non-vegetarian foods, liquor and even garlic and onions. “These patients eat, sleep, live and meditate with us. Within a few days, their weight increases and they start feeling relieved. In fact, a tangible result is witnessed in just 48 hours,” he said. Patel said the Baba makes the patients pray in certain postures, which does wonders. The weight of one patient from Seoni, who came to live with them on February 18, increased from 57 kg to 67 within a month. In the last six months, 24 patients have visited his place for ‘treatment’ by the Baba. “If they stay for three months, I am sure they would be cured of AIDS,” he claimed. Salina Singh admitted that she had sent a female officer for locating AIDS patients and sending them to Patel’s residence. “Faith is a big thing. There is no harm in sending patients to someone who claims to cure them by meditation and without charging anything for food and stay. We should help for a social cause like this,” she said. Singh refused to comment when asked whether she had issued official instructions to her staff. “I do not want to talk about it. I directed my staff on the basis of talks held amongst some ministers,” she said. Dr Padmakar Tripathi, medical officer, J P Hospital, said scientific evaluation is required of the patient whose weight increases. “Besides the various tests, it also needs to be examined whether steroids are being administered to the patients,” he said. Meanwhile, Patel also claims that HIV is found not only in human beings but also in animals like cows, buffaloes and goats. “We are going to conduct tests on chicken, rabbit, deer and fish to find whether they can also be infected with HIV,” he said. He maintains that after conducting tests on about 5,000 animals, he and his supporters have found nine animals infected with “HIV”. For conducting advanced tests he has named the animals. For instance, Dilip, Noori, Bobby and Shama are goats, Shyam, Shyama, Kanta and Karan calves and Chitra is a buffalo. Noori and Shyam are no more. The test on one-year old Shama, conducted at the Diagnostic and Research Centre, Secunderabad, about two months ago has confirmed that she is suffering from HIV positive. The Bhopal-based Diagnostic Investigation Laboratory has started conducting research on HIV in animals. Deputy director Dr R K Gorakh said the research is at a nascent stage. “We are trying to find out the exactness of things,” he said. Patel has sent memorandums to Governor Balram Jakhar, Health Minister Gauri Shankar Shejwar and Forest Minister Dhal Singh Bisen for the State Government to make arrangements for research, set up a new department and allocate funds in the budget for the purpose. http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/5922_954493,0015002100000000.htm ________________________ Posted by " VP Pandey " <vppandey@...>
