Guest guest
I don't have an alternative answer, but if you do have to use blood thinners again, you should ask to use Heparin instead of Lovenox. Heparin does not get to the placenta, whereas Lovenox does. C _____ From: Vaccinations [mailto:Vaccinations ] On Behalf Of mensrea320@... Sent: Wednesday, March 05, 2008 7:23 AM Vaccinations Subject: OT pregnancy question I'm 15 weeks pregnant w/my 2nd child. I have been diagnosed with anti thrombin III deficiency. It is a clotting disorder that has to do w/some sort of protein in the blood. I have a greater tendency to clot, especially during pregnancy. I have never had a blood clot. I took 40mg lovenox injections once daily during my last pregnancy. This drug gave me heart palpitations, and I do not desire to take the drug again. I am not on this drug right now. So far things have been going good, but the closer to delivery I get, the higher the risk. I had my first doctor's appt on Monday and requested another blood test to confirm the diagnosis. I go back next week to get the results. Any suggestions on how to avoid the drug, but stay safe? I'm looking into butchers broom, but have recently learned it works thru the platelets, and my disorder does not involve platelets. thanks Holly **************It's Tax Time! Guest guest
Holly, I have a distant cousin who developed a blood clot in her leg during her first pregnancy and it's still there. She actually just recently delivered her fourth baby and has made it through all her subsequent pregnancies without any complications. I don't know all the particulars of her treatment or condition, but I think she takes Heparin during pregnancy until she's in labor? Do you have an alternative health care provider you could consult about your condition and any alternatives that may be available to you? Congratulations on your new baby and good luck with the pregnancy! ~ Mom to (9/02), (9/05) & Baby due April 2008 > > I'm 15 weeks pregnant w/my 2nd child. I'm still researching it though. Holly **************It's Tax Time! Get tips, forms, and advice on AOL Money & Finance. Guest guest
Hi Holly -- You may want to add Omega-3 fish oils to your diet. Omega 3s are an essential fatty acid present in cold water fish (salmon, sardines, etc.), and they're a natural blood thinner - just make sure you choose a supplement that is guaranteed to be mercury/contaminant free. If you're a vegetarian, flax seed oil can be used, but flax seed oil is not the best source as it contains the precursor of omega-3 fats, which your body must then converted to long-chain omega-3 fats.
