..html>US Government Concedes Vaccine-Autism Case in Federal Court - Now What?

Kirby - The Huffington Post -February 25, 2008 | 12:42 PM (EST)

" After years of insisting there is no evidence to link vaccines with the

onset of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), the US government has quietly

conceded a vaccine-autism case in the court of Federal Claims. The

unprecedented concession was filed on November 9, and sealed to protect the

plaintiff's identify. It was obtained through individuals unrelated to the

case. "

For details of the child's case, see here for abstract of the s Hopkins

paper " http://jcn.sagepub.com/cgi/content/abstract/21/2/170

Developmental Regression and Mitochondrial Dysfunction in a Child With

Autism " published in 2006 in the Journal of Journal of Child Neurology /

Volume 21, Number 2, February 2006

In the full paper the authors' state:-

" Young children who have dysfunctional cellular energy metabolism therefore

might be more prone to undergo autistic regression between 18 and 30 months

of age if they also have infections or immunizations at the same time.

Although patterns of regression can be genetically and prenatally

determined, it is possible that underlying mitochondrial dysfunction can

either exacerbate or affect the severity of regression. Abnormalities of

oxidative phosphorylation can be developmental and age related and can

normalize with time. "
