Hi Pam! I've been searching on the internet and finally found this info. I hope it helps. I guess it's a commom condition that implant gals get. It's associated with auto immune disease. I was just diagnosed with this, so I'm just learning. I hope the following info below will help! Love, Alice

What is costochondritis? cost= rib, chond = cartilage, itis = inflammation Costochondritis is an inflammation of the cartilage that attaches the ribs to the breastbone In the beginning, costo is usually worse,it feels like there is an elephant sitting on your chest, it hurts to breathe, ribs hurt all over with intermittent sharp, stabbing pains, and usually a few "sore spots" on your ribs, that you would faint if someone poked you there. You might also feel like you are having a heart attack. Eventually, it might go down to a dull, but constant ache, or simply the feeling of sore ribs. It hurts to wear a bra, and different motions, like picking a child up from the floor, can cause a flare up, with intense pain. When it is a chronic condition, it tends to wax and wane, come and go. It might be better for a while, then you will reach for something in the wrong position and bam!, it is right back again. Pam

Alice, what is costochondritis? I've had throbbing off and on in my breasts also. I had it quite a bit when I first got my implants in 1999 and it eventually went away. It started again a few weeks ago. One day I cried all day because it hurt so bad. It's better now. I don't know what sets it off though. Maybe using my arms a lot? Congrats on setting up a date with Dr. Feng. I hope you can get the insurance to pay. I still haven't heard anything on mine. I have an exclusion in the policy so I don't have much of a chance. My surgery was in December. I guess it can take months. Pam> >I've heard lots of people lately saying how when they got their implants,> >they were back at work after just a couple of weeks.
