Guest guest
It's sad and breaks my heart for those other kids BUT how is that not abuse and neglect? And on the note that adults aren't fully vaccinated, a lot of DOCTORS aren't up to date on their vaccinations. Even nurses, I believe don't necessarily keep up to date. They make sure you've got everything when you hire on but after that I've never seen or heard of anyone making sure things are up to date; unless you're a traveler but that's an egg of a different color. And you don't see and hear about epidemics of say measles going through the adult population, but I bet you will for our kids generation and chicken pox as that vax wears off. And, I believe not every country in Europe vax against everything like we do here and huge epidemics and kids dieing from complications aren't widespread (maybe they are and you don't hear about them but I doubt it). It just makes no sense as to how many vax's are given to American kids and the schedule they're on. What newborn is at risk for Hep B? Even if the baby is in a house with someone who has Hep B (and people do w/o knowing it) the risk of transmission is very very minute. Unless you're somehow sharing bodily fluids. It's so money based. Sorry, small rant, I feel better.~doris > > That is truly sad. Maybe on some level she's still trying to justify that the shots were okay to alleviate any guilt over it. Guest guest
I agree, it's all about money. I have to say, though, I'm not worried about outbreaks when the vaccinves wear off because I don't think the vaccines are working to prevent to disease to begin with. Guest guest
Hi, I'm mostly a lurker here, but reading this article incensed me! I wanted to leave a comment but I can't figure out how to do it. Does anyone know how to leave comments at the New York Times? I found another discussion of this same article at http://accedasadcuriam.wordpress.com/ but I really want to leave a comment at the original. zpapacarroll > > The article I am referring to came out yesterday, March 20, 2008 > Link: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/21/us/21vaccine.html > " Public Health Risk Seen as Parents Reject Vaccines " > > Quoted from the article: > " The very success of immunizations has turned out to be an Achilles' > heel, " said Dr. Mark Sawyer, a pediatrician and infectious disease > specialist at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego.
