Guest guest
Hello, Im Amy. I had a consult with a cosmetic surgeon yesterday. He said I have a deformity called Tubular deformity. With this condition Im wondering what if there is another option of going with the more intense operation/implants or finding something else I can do. I would like to look normal and I admit Im scared of having the surgery but I'm desperate. Any ideas? Thanks, Amy
Guest guest
Hi Amy. I don't know anything about Tubular deformities, but I can tell you about my experience. I too wanted to look " normal " . I had to wear a prosthesis since I was a teenager, because due to a deformity called Poland's syndrome, I never developed a right breast. I thought the answer was breast implants, so I got them when I was barely 19. I have been disabled from illnesses caused by those implants since I was 21. I am 25 now and am in the process of getting on social security disability. I had my implants removed several months ago, so now, not only do I have the same old breasts, but now they are scarred. I am back to wearing my prosthesis. I wish I had never decided to get implants. I can't tell you how much pain they have caused me and my family. I have lost so much and nearly lost my life. Your health is SO much more important than the way your breasts look when you don't have clothes on. Please believe me. I know how hard it is to want so badly to look normal, but it is not worth sacrificing your health. You say you are desperate....I am desperate too...to have my life back....now, not only do my breasts not look normal, but I can't even live a normal life. I have to have bed rest every day. I am in pain every day and sometimes it is so bad that all I can do is lay there and cry. Please don't do this to yourself. I'm not saying this WILL happen to you if you get implants, but I AM saying that it is not worth the risk. Guest guest
amy PLEASE PLEASE reconsider the implant option - there has got to be another way.. there are bra inserts, etc. If you get the implants you will be just asking for more suffering - emotionally and physically. I know and speak from experience. I know it is hard with your condition but at least you have your health which is more than I can say. in hindsight, i would rather have two deformed breasts now than to go through what I deal with everyday. it isn't worth it - I promise that. good luck! love shari
Guest guest
amy I always wanted to have nice breasts, too. I saved and at 25 got them. It isn't always what it seems in pictures. they did look nice but felt really weird. it is constant work to keep the scar tissue off of them or they will look nasty. that was in 1996 - saline. By 1997 I had to go in to fix a complication then again in 1999 as one ruptured on it's own overnight. I was 29 then and had just gotten married. After that last rupture is when I started getting sick. All I ever wanted was to have children and a happy family. I had a son in 2001 who is always sick now and I hate myself everytime I look into his beautiful blue eyes, knowing that I could be the cause of his suffering. When I removed the implants, a year ago on Monday, they were full of mold and bacteria. One had plant life growing inside of it - I have attached a picture of what they looked like for you to see what I mean. I am not trying to scare you, and if you still make the decision it is OK as I will be here if you need any help - just ask. I just wish someone had been there 8 years ago so I could see both sides of the story then I may actually have a life now. I am on disability and unable to work and have been told that my dream of having more children is never going to happen. Like you said - just because bad things happen to some people they don't always happen to everyone but I guess you need to weigh the good with the bad and see if it is worth the risk - not only for yourself, but your family, career, children, etc. I wish you all the best! love shari
Guest guest
If you have Crohn's Disease and have implants, your condition will worsen. Anyone with digestive problems, neurological problems, or autoimmune problems is not a candidate for implants. I would call it malpractice. Guest guest
I know what it is to live with a chronic condition. I have crohns disease. It can be painful but I have always wanted to have nice breasts. If I can afford to pay for a doctor to do them then I believe I will. Guest guest
Gasp!! Your kidding. I've spoken with a surgeon and told him about my illness. He seemed fine about doing the surgery that is until he saw my deformity. I'm going to have to check this situation out. Where did you find information on this? Guest guest
- Dear amy If you have crohn's disease, why in the world would you want to take a chance with implants? Crohn's is an autoimmune condition and your body is already dealing with one big problem. THe likelihood that you would react to the implants is even greater if you have an autoimmune condition. Your body's immune system is already overactive. I had fms and my sister didn't. We both got implants. She didn't get sick and I got sick with scleroderma symptoms. Scleroderma is a terrible, disfiguring and possibly fatal disease. I was headed down a very dark path. I had the implants out 2 years ago. I am much better now but not completely well. I have spent thousands on treatments and supplements to get better. I should have known better. The FMS was already a sign that I had something going on in my body. The saline implants was the final straw. I think you should look more into crohn's disease. I know people on antibiotic therapy being helped by it. Why? Because apparently it can be caused by the same type pathogens that have been linked to rheumatoid arthritis, lupus etc. These same pathogens often turn up in women sickened by breast implants. I can understand your desire for breasts that look attractive. I was extremely flat and felt like a freak. Now I am flat again, and would take that anyday over being sick. It isn't worth the risk--especially considering your crohn's. What if it worsened it? Please love your body enough to find a different answer to your problems. Guest guest
patty yeah - they are a little worse - Blais said this would happen. for years the organisms lived off of my body fluids going in and out - once they are removed their food source is gone so they have to feed off of themselves. they are no longer able to dump their "waste" into me so it is all retained in the implants. I will also add that they are kept in very safe containers from the hospital in the air conditioning - this happened over the last year in a climate controlled closet inside of medical bag & box. yep - yucky they ARE!!!!!
