Vaccinating pregnant women

Hi,

What a shocking story! Here is the information from the package insert

for Fluarix - one of the vaccines licensed in pregnancy.

Use in pregnancy. (Category B2)

Adequate human data on use during pregnancy and adequate animal

reproduction studies are not available. Although there is no convincing

evidence of risk to the fetus from immunisation of pregnant women using

inactivated viral vaccines, Fluarix should be used during pregnancy only

when clearly needed.

The NHMRC states that influenza vaccine is safe for pregnant women.

There is evidence from a number of studies that pregnant women,

particularly during the second and third trimester, are at increased

risk of influenza associated complications. The NHMRC therefore

recommends that all women who will be in the second or third trimester

of pregnancy during the influenza season be vaccinated in advance, so

that they will be protected during that period.

Use in lactation. Adequate human data on use during lactation and

adequate animal reproduction studies are not available. There is no

known contraindication in the use of Fluarix during lactation.

You should NEVER have received this vaccine during pregnancy and your

doctor should be shot (preferably with multiple vaccines) for even

suggesting it! Also, most flu vaccines contain thiomersal (mercury)

which cannot be good for babies and which probably passes through the

placenta - anyone have information on whether that does pass through the

placenta and also whether vaccine antibodies will pass through into the

baby. This would be interesting to know. Any research?

Hey everyone- I'm a speech therapist with a 15 month old boy who works

with vaccine-injured (aka autistic) children everyday. At 35 weeks, he

was born premature three hours after receiving the flu shot. " You want

your baby to have all of those good antibodies to flu, don't you?! " The

nurse's questioning still echoes in my head....11 days in the NICU

later, he came home. I started SLOWLY researching what had happened to

me and realized FINALLY that vaccines are poison. He hasn't received any

vaccines since his six month visit (unfortunately that means that alot)

but NO MORE!

My question is this...does anyone know of any research investigating the

effects of flu shot on pregnant women? Why won't I be surprised when

sometimes is the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Other vaccines earlier or later break the camel's back.

Many meds & /or antibiotics to mom during pregnancy or labor and delivery

Rhogam with mercury

Hep B vax at birth and parents don't know

Thank you for the info! You know...there was that " little voice " in my head

that said " You shouldn't get this.. " I got it, went home to take a nap, and

woke up in labor. I was in active labor the next two hours and pushed for

thirty minutes. He came out not being able to breathe so they threw him into

the NICU. I barely saw him. He's doing great now, though. Praise God. I

didn't put two and two together until I started all of my vac research. My

pregnancy was going picture perfect until that flu shot...thank you for

responding.

I’d send that info to your OB. I don’t think a formal complaint will do

anything b/c vaccines are so revered. I mean, if you have nurses being

threatened with being fired if they don’t keep their vaccines up to

date, then you’ll be told it’s a coincidence and you would have gone

into labor anyway.

However, I’d still send it and tell him to really think about that flu

shot and find out more about it. Most doctors don’t read the package

inserts. Think about it.. do you? do you read the ingredient list on the

foods you eat?.. (you general).. most people don’t. I certainly never

thought about reading the package insert.

Eye opening for me and reinforce on the doctors don’t read them either

was when peter was a baby and I took him for some serious congestion and

wanted a RX decongestant b/c the OTC was useless…and they wanted to

shoot him up with vaccines. He was 6 months old. I said no. I wasn’t

going to add stress to his system like that, it was already fighting a

cold. ‘oh it’s OK unless they have a fever”…..no.

Got home and found the package insert on line and even it said for

whatever conditions peter had, matched their contraindications too. I

was totally pissed and was glad I had stood my ground. The nurse got

pretty snotty with me and we left the practice, w/ a letter to the chief

doctor. She threatened to call DHR on us if “she didn’t see peter in

here for his shots within the next 2 weeks”… uh huh. I don’t take well

to threats, esp. when I’m the one footing the bill!!!!!

My OB was perfectly happy to shoot me up w/ rhogam. I read the insert

with and yep, it had mercury. She had no idea if it did or not… I

went ahead with the shot b/c I didn’t have enough facts under my belt to

on the day of the app’t to argue it…..I did w/ Isaac though.

yes, yes, listen to your intuition!! We are so often taught to not listen to

our inner voice by the so-called " experts " !

THANK YOU all very much--your help, knowlege and not to mention quick access

(I wish our medical community would respond this quickly!) have saved our

babies, our family.

Sheri--a big thank you to you on that exemption form--took 5 minutes to

complete and notorize yesterday! Will be taking it to my daughter's school.

I cannot believe that nurse said that to you! Who do these people think they

are? God? Oh wait...they probably do. Upon hearing that I was refusing my

son's vaccinations at nine months, my pediatrician said to me " An ex-Playboy

Bunny goes on Oprah and now no one wants their kid vaccinated... " She actually

said that. That was the LAST time I ever graced her office!

Yeah, that's a good way to look at it! The second pediatrician I went to

said (when I told her I don't vaccinate) " Yeah, we have a group of parents

around here that don't do it. I make them sign a waiver and you'll have to

too. " I was like, " Man, can you give me their names?! " Hee hee....

The tide is turning. My doc offered to sign medical exemptions for all of my

kids for all vaccines based on my oldest son's reaction but I turned it down

because I have the religious exemption. Now that offer wouldn't have been given

15 years ago!
