Guest guest
Ugh. I wrote him: Mr. e, This is in response to your 4/19 article on vaccine exemptions. I realize you think you're doing a public service, but there are a few things you need to understand about vaccines: Vaccines ARE dangerous. All vaccines carry the risk of death. None are guaranteed to work. Therefore, herd immunity is a fantasy. We will never eradicate disease, nor should we try. Energy is better spent improving lifestyle choices, diet, etc. and less on supporting pharmaceutical companies who have no legal liability for vaccine injuries or death. " Vaccine preventable diseases " are coming back--never left--and they are happening to vaccinated individuals. Parents are finally waking up out of their deep slumber and putting two and two together. The use of vaccine exemptions is growing because the number of vaccines are growing, and the risks to our children are growing. So are the number of vaccine-damaged children, and rates of autism, asthma, allergies, ADHD--and that's only the A's on the list. There is no danger in neighbors informing neighbors of vaccine risks. There is, however, danger in the media pushing propaganda without fact checking. Guest guest
Of course it was. He responded right away to show just that. Here it is and my response back: Ms on, Thank you for writing. I appreciate your willingness to express your opinions, but we are forced to deal in facts when presenting stories to the public. You are correct in that there are certainly dangers in vaccines. Dangers that most modern societies have accepted as a trade-off against the far more crippling effects of the diseases prevented. Your opinion that herd immunity is a fantasy and is not supported by medical evidence. (And yes, I have seen the cornucopia of vaccine skeptic websites, but a website is not evidence, it's a website) Your list of maladies that you attribute to vaccines is impressive, but again, not founded in science. We were not attempting to discourage parents from using exemptions, or from talking to other parents about their choice. Our piece was aimed at educating the vast majority of parents who choose immunization about how the choices of their neighbor can affect their families. Simply because something is in disagreement with your world view does not make it propaganda. And simply because you believe something, does not make it fact. Thank you again for writing and sharing your views. Take care, 9NEWS Reporter K*USA-TV Denver, CO My response: Mr. , You are correct, one needs to deal in facts. I get mine from the vaccine package inserts, not from any website (which I didn't say a word about). As a matter of fact, I stopped vaccinating my children seven years before I even had a computer or knew what a website was. I do not consider it " fact " that the dangers of vaccines are worth the trade-off of the effects of disease. No matter how many people believe that, it is just opinion--and precisely why exemptions are needed. Actually, I didn't really get that you were trying to educate pro-vaccine parents by stating " there is an additional danger in parents opposed to vaccines convincing neighbors not to immunize their children. " What about the danger to the families whose neighbors (or news media) convinced them to vaccinate and their child is injured or dies? Are you planning a report on educating anti-vaccine families about those dangerous pro-vaccine neighbors? Going by the last paragraph of your article where you mention the " pro-immunization push, " I suppose not. But thank you for opening up the debate. That is always good. I also asked him why he doesn't cover the other side of the debate. Guest guest
Way to go Winnie!!!!! I do not judge anyone who does or does not vaccinate but this is the main problem.....everyone coming down so hard on those who do not. It is a choice and one that a parent has to make for their own child. When I read things like this, it reminds me of how I used to think just a few months ago.......like how could anyone not vaccinate their child from these terrible diseases. Now, my eyes have been opended and I kick myself constantly with my lack of knowldge in this important matter. I do not feel I am " anti " anything EXCEPT when it comes to things that are so dangerous to our precious children!!!!! ~Beth Story on local news vaccinations > Leave it to the local news to do a one-sided story lacking in > actual factual > information. .. Guest guest
The ignorant man responded to me too in a similar fashion. Here's his letter below and my response to it. Notice that I did not even address him?? (He made me quite angry at the time). Dawn, Thank you for writing. I understand that some people feel strongly that vaccines are dangerous. However, we are not allowed to report opinions as facts unless they are supported by evidence. My research finds a lot of suggestions and hunches that vaccines are harmful, like the example you wrote about, but little real, scientific evidence. Why do we not report on individual horror stories? Because anecdotes aren't evidence. It would be as irresponsible for me to go on the news and do a piece condemning Ford Motor Company because my pickup broke down last week. That's a personal story, not evidence of an overwhelming problem. As for your comment about me " getting paid to keep my mouth shut " , I will assume shortly after you wrote that you realized how silly that is, but had already sent the email. If I was getting paid by the 'CDC/big pharm/the Illuminati' to cover up the dangers of vaccines, I would at least have the money to fix my broken truck! Thanks again for writing and sharing your views. Take care, 9NEWS Reporter K*USA-TV Denver, CO My response to Mr. is below... That's fine. It still doesn't explain why the CDC is allowed to lie to the public about the number of flu deaths though. Why don't you do a story on that?? Here's your proof for just one disease. I encourage you to do your homework on the rest. http://thinktwice.com/cdc_2001.pdf http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/hestat/preliminarydeaths05_tables.pdf#5 (page 33 out of 40) In 2005 they reported 1,806 (the majority of all of these deaths were in the elderly too) 36,000 deaths, huh according to the CDC ? What's their excuse for this lie? What about the toxic FEMA trailers (formaldehyde)? We are expected to believe it is safe in vaccines?? Give me a break. The CDC demoted their own expert when he concluded that it was toxic. The EPA is considering it a possible carcinogen. Duh?? http://us.gsk.com/products/assets/us_infanrix.pdf (page 1 for formaldehyde content and 7 to view example of cancer warning) A .5 ml dose is safe for all ages, heights, and weight??? Yeah, right! Why has history shown many outbreaks occurred among the VACCINATED populations? Again, just speak about the facts from BOTH sides of the debate please. Dawn > > > > > > Ugh. Guest guest
He responded to my short little letter too, I couldn't resist but to write him again.... Dear Mr. e: I never used the word assertion, simply said possibly thinking, which is not as strong as the word assertion that brings a different meaning. My concern comes from the fact that you are influencing the public in your position, and everyone needs to learn to think independently and be responsible for their actions. You wrote to me your article is based on scientific research, but you only posed one side; pro-vaccinations. This would lead me to think you are trying to protect the interests of that side. My statements are backed-up as well by scientific research. Read " The Vaccine Guide: Risk and Benefits for Children and Adults by Randall Neustaederter, OMD " where he address the efficacy about the varicella vaccine on pages 150-152. As far as the side effects of the vaccines, take a look at the listings that the pharmaceutical companies have in their own website. This is a response that came from sanofi pasteur: Package inserts may be viewed at http://www.vaccineplace.com/products/. Any questions should be discussed with your physician. Lynn Kennedy RN Medical Information Associate Medical Information Services US sanofi pasteur 1-800-822-2463 Should you ever decide to go to the website, pull up almost any of the inserts for any of the vaccines, you will see listed some as Systematic Reactions: (hives, angioedema, allergic asthma, and systemic anaphylaxis) and another word for systemic anaphylaxis is anaphalactic shock, which means a sudden severe and potentially fatal allergic reaction in somebody sensitive to a substance, marked by a drop in blood pressure, difficulty in breathing, itching, and swelling. Unlike your accusation towards me, I am not just simply uniformed and defensive. All I am asking that when you write your next story, regardless what the topic is breastfeeding, genetically modified engineering, vegetarians, attachment parenting, the war in Iraq, talk about both sides as you were probably told in school. Thank you, Marieliz Monclova Newark, New Jersey " , " <kyle.clark@...> wrote: Ms Monclava, Thank you for writing. However, your assertion that I'm getting an industry payoff shows a stunning disconnect from reality. Apart from the fact that my story relied on scientific research that is at odds with your opinions, do you have any evidence that I'm being bought? I am sorry that anyone would be so uninformed and defensive on an issue to slander someone in such a way. 9NEWs vaccine story Mr. e, I just read an article that you wrote on vaccine exemptions. I am one of those parent that you are talking about in your article. I am possibly thinking that you are getting paid by pharmaceutical companies to promote their poorly tested and dangerous vaccines. Let's take the flu vaccine, has the flu disappeared. Doesn't the public get infected by various different strains every year. What about the varicella vaccine? When you get it as a child you may possibly have lifetime immunity and only get it for possibly 2 weeks. With the vaccine, what we are doing is changing the trend. Our children could possibly now be affected as adults and be out of work for a month, or possibly die from complications of the disease but later. Vaccines side effects include getting the disease that you are actually getting vaccinated for and fatality. Why would I put my sons at risk of death? Marieliz Monclova Newark, NJ > > This fellow is hung up on " science. " Maybe someone should write him and tell him that there is no real science on vaccines. It's not as if vaccines are tested by exposing someone after a vaccine to a disease. No, they are either tested against other vaccines, or just given and then assumed to be working if the disease rates as a whole go down--as if no other factors could be at work. > > Anyway, you wrote a terrific letter. I hope you save it for your child to show him/her what you were doing at the time labor kicked in. Happy labor! > > Winnie

Guest guest
My latest letter to Mr. is below: Hello Mr. , Why doesn't your station investigate the Hep B vaccine? It was pulled from the French market and authorities are investigating charges of manslaughter against Sanofi Pasteur and Merck (for not disclosing all of the risks associated with this vaccine). There are 6 French families that have filed wrongful death suits and plenty more being filed as I write this. Why didn't that make its way here in the news in the U.S.?? Why did your station fail to report this?? Why is this same vaccine still on the U.S. market manufactured by the same U.S. company? I could name many more vaccines that were pulled from foreign markets too - only to remain on ours. Quite sick. FYI - there have been countless valid studies involving vaccines. Unfortunately, all of them were dismissed by WHO, NIH, the FDA, the CDC, and the AAP. Their profits are far more important than any studies involving vaccines. Don't you find it a bit odd that every town has at least 4-5 drug stores?? Drug companies are making a fortune - and laughing all the way to the bank at the expense of the public. Again, please cover stories that we, the public would like to hear (the truth). Dawn > > > > For all you letter writers, you might also wish to contact someone > at Woman's > > World magazine. Guest guest
I'd be curious to the following: Many talk about wanting " scientific facts " from the non-vacc (or those that don't go by the schedule) side. Has anyone ever presented a study from the pro-vacc side that vaccinations have indeed declined diseases? I mean, I read it a lot, I hear it a lot - has there been any scientific studies to this assertion? The below studies on vaccine adverse events was recently posted on a different debate blog I'm on. I've gone through and have eliminated any references to links that did not work, or, those that really weren't on topic. Here are a bunch of studies that talk about AE's related to certain vaccines and these are just the tip of the iceberg. Where are the other studies to show that there aren't these problems? Where are the studies to show that the trade-off of mainly benign childhood diseases is worth the risk of long-term chronic infections/diseases/illnesses/disorders? Where are they? 1. Authors cited a six week post immunization risk period. Authors cited an article by Cohn that found over 70% of the cases of ITP follow virus infections. Nine of thirteen cases were attributable to MMR and the relative risk for contracting ITP is one in 22,300 doses. The highest incidents occurred between 15-28 days. Two of every three cases of ITP were vaccine related but infants who already had ITCP were not at an increased risk of incidents after MMR. The study found that vaccine related incidents tended to be milder and not as likely to reoccur. 82. Take care, 9NEWS Reporter K*USA-TV Denver, CO
Guest guest
IMPHO - I'd stay completely away from using the below comment. When emotion or personal attacks is used to convey an argument, it does nothing for that side. If a point is trying to be made, then that point should be made without diving into attacks - there's enough out there to give any person the right to show pause when it comes to vaccinating themselves, children, pets (whatever) - but I think the facts need to be stuck to, otherwise a person risks losing any credibility. (just ask the FDA, CDC, AAP, NIH to name a few). --------------------------------------------------------- " I would mention something about unbiased reporters shouldn't allow themselves to be used as a mouthpiece. Guest guest
I tell everyone to purchase the " Vaccine Safety Manual " by Neil Z . The book has numerous valid case studies and over 1,000 references for people to investigate on their own. (many references include peer reviewed medical journals, FDA & CDC references, etc) The author even encourages you to do your own digging for facts. He just helps you get started. I am actually giving the book to every expecting couple too. > > > > 1. Guest guest
My favorite slogan. " Vaccines - they offer a person everything EXCEPT 100% immunity " . > > Hi > > A while back I wrote a letter to the editor. I stated that I would pay $2000.00 to any allopath who could prove > that any vaccine prevented any disease. I said stick the poison into a body and if that body did not get the disease prove that the vaccine was the reason . A local doctor responded and said my example was asinine. Another said it could not be proven that way. Both repeated the usual platitudes, polio and smallpox were wiped out, vaccines are the greatest etc. etc. The point is nobody can PROVE vaccines prevent or cause disease even if you know in your heart that vaccines cause disease, disability and death. This is because there is no way to determine the damage the vaccine does at the cellular level. Scientist cannot see in the body and watch how the vaccine destroys the cells. So it is all a conclusion on both sides. The problem is they sell the product and if you or your child gets sick or dies they want YOU to prove it was the vaccine ,which they know you can't do. > I learned a long time ago that the best defense is offense. DEMAND THAT THEY PROVE THE VACCINE PREVENTS ANY DISEASE.. > For example in the 1950s they blood poisoned a few hundred thousand kids in april and when they didn't develop polio by September they said see the reason they didn't get polio was because of the vaccine. Well how about the other 40+ million kids like me that never took the vaccine and never got polio. By the way the kids they vaccinated ,several hundred got polio and a dozen or so died. > > Jim O' > Founder of S.I.N.B.A.D--A.D. > Shots in body's are deadly--and drugs > > > > Re: Story on local news > > I'd be curious to the following: Many talk about wanting " scientific facts " from the non-vacc (or those that don't go by the schedule) side. Has anyone ever presented a study from the pro- vacc side that vaccinations have indeed declined diseases? I mean, I read it a lot, I hear it a lot - has there been any scientific studies to this assertion? The below studies on vaccine adverse events was recently posted on a different debate blog I'm on. I've gone through and have eliminated any references to links that did not work, or, those that really weren't on topic. Here are a bunch of studies that talk about AE's related to certain vaccines and these are just the tip of the iceberg. Where are the other studies to show that there aren't these problems? Where are the studies to show that the trade-off of mainly benign childhood diseases is worth the risk of long-term chronic infections/diseases /illnesses/ disorders? Where are they? > > > > 1.
