Vitamin K Shot and premature babies

I have a question about the vitamin k shot and babies born prematurely. I had

done a lot of research on the shot and decided I did not want to give this to my

baby when she was born, but she came 5 weeks early and the info I had said that

one of the risk factors (a reason to give the shot) was for premature babies. I

ended up letting them give her the shot because I did not have time to find more

info about this. Does anyone know anymore about this? I wish I had more time

before she was born. She ended up getting very jaundiced and had to go under

the lights (as did my son).

Thank you

My cousin-in-law is pregnant for the first time and expecting twin

girls. She is a nurse so it is very difficult to discuss vax,

alternative treatments, etc. I bought her Dr. Feders Natural

Pregnancy book hoping she would see the " other side " . She has a

medical problem that puts her at risk for blood clots. Since she is

pregnant she has to give herself a daily injection of anticoagulant

drug. She feels due to her condition and the daily injection that

the twins will need the vitamin K shot at birth. Is this correct?

She also says the oral vitamin K is not as effective because of the

medication she is taking. Is this true also? I'd appreciate some

insight.
