I am in desperate search of a Homepathic dr. that can treat my 15

month old's ear infection. Her pediatrician let us know yesterday that

she saw infection in her right ear and we had no idea as she showed no

signs of any pain or infection and now I HATE to have to give her the

antibiotics that was prescribed to her. We are located in California,

LA County if anyone can recommend a homepath to treat my baby girl!!!

It might not be an infection, if she's not having pain. Was there redness or fluid or both?

You can treat ear infections very successfully on your own. Until you find a new doc, I would at least try homeopathic pulsatilla. It costs all of $6. There's more you can do, but with a little one, I'm sure you'd be more comfortable with a doctor monitoring the ears.

Please don't try a random homeopathic remedy w/out assessing your

child's whole case. IF you're familiar enough with homeopathy to know

how to mix the remdies and administer them, then check out this page to

match your child's symptom picture with the proper choice.

Yes, to do it best, look at the whole picture but the parents don't know how long the ear has been affected and there are no apparent, outward symptoms to go by. I suggested the pulsatilla because of the right ear involvement, Otherwise I would say belladonna.

I think it's fine to give a dose or two of 30c if the alternative is antibiotics, especially with a small child who doesn't have a lenghty health history. Nice site, though, and in looking at it realized that I forgot the number one rule of ear infections--stay away from dairy!

I don't blame you, I'd want a doc to check a baby, too. Have you ever checked ears before on your own? It's tough with babies, at least for me, but I bought myself an "ear checker." Once I knew what I was doing, it saved me many trips to the doctor. Hopefully, you won't need one again.

If you have breastmilk, go ahead and take a medicine dropper full of expressed milk and drop it in there. You need to do it often, about every couple of hours. Hope this helps.

My daughter got an ear infection when she was around 18m or so, maybe a little less. Sse vomited and was screaming in pain. I took her in to the Docs. We gave her something for the pain and I was given a script for anitbiotics. I was pleasantly surprised that the Doc said it might be a good idea to wait 24hr and just treat for pain and that there was a good chance it would go away on it's own. We waited and she was fine the next day. So we never used the antibiotics. I was told this is standard procedure in Europe.

We self-diagnose and do home homeopathy treatments all the time...they are safe and even if you get the wrong one you, it won't cause harm...it just won't work to cure the problem. I would also recommend that you get a good home remedy book...I don't have mine right here so that I can write titles, etc, but I can get that info for you if you want.

For ear infections/aches, etc, we also have great success with Wally's Ear Oil...it's a garlic/mullein oil, mixed with essential oils, etc and it works GREAT! My ds' earache are usually gone w/in a day when I use it!

Thank you everyone for your helpful responses for treating my daughter's ear infection. I made her an appointment with a holistic PD for this Monday, meanwhile I am putting Mullein garlic drops in her ears until I can get into the dr. I love both these groups so much!

The best homeopath in LA area is Dr. Luc de Schepper.

But again, just becasue the peds says there is an ear infection does

not mean there is I will send an article that explains that red

eardrum does not necessarily mean infection. And most peds now don't

even use antibiotics if there is - recovery time is the same.

Don't let them scare you into their drugs.

I'll send Dr. de Schepper's info

Sheri-thank you I will look him up. My chiro told me the same thing and I NEVER went to fill that damn prescription for antibiotics! I got her some Mullein garlic drops for her ear and my chiro mentioned trying belladona. What do you think? Almost everyone I spoke to was completely suprised about the antibiotics! Thank you again for the info!!!

If she never had noticeable symptoms, it's doubtful it's an infection. I can remember how painful they were--and that was 50 years ago! You would know. And it would get worse.

Why not take her back to the ped at the time the antibiotics would have been used up and see if the "infection" is gone?

The doctor looks in the ear - it is red - he assumes an infection.

Red ear drum does not mean infection. Happens with crying and other

things. See the article I sent
