It is expected that international scholarship recipients will currently be involved in or have plans to participate in extended Phase II and III vaccine research studies in the near future (involvement may include research, infrastructure development, logistical support, policy making, recruitment, and/or implementation). Award: The amount of the scholarship is based on financial need and may include: transportation to/from New York (prepaid ticket at lowest available airfare), the conference registration fee, a stipend (to cover hotel, ground transportation, meals, etc.), and discounted hotel accommodations (to be paid by scholarship recipient) Requirements: Applicant must: 1] be involved in HIV vaccine related research, development, and/or testing; 2] committed to setting up international collaborations on AIDS vaccine related projects; 3] have a commitment to share what was learned at the conference; and 4] be fluent in English. Application Process: Applicants should submit 1] an International Scholarship Application (form is available below in PDF) or by calling 703-535-6863 and 2] a letter of recommendation (optional). Selection: Applications will be reviewed by the Scientific Program Committee; international scholarships will be awarded based upon the quality of the application. Preference will be given to applicants who have international collaborations and a track record in the field. Award: The amount of the scholarship is based on financial need and may include: transportation to/from New York (prepaid ticket at lowest available airfare or trainfare), the conference registration fee, and discounted hotel accommodations (to be paid by scholarship recipient) Requirements: Applicant must: 1] be able to understand scientific reports of HIV vaccine related research, including abstracts, posters, and brief oral presentations of trial results; 2] be affiliated with an organization that is doing AIDS vaccine advocacy; 3] be involved in community outreach activities; 4] have a commitment to share what was learned at the conference; and 5] be fluent in English. Application Process: Applicants should submit 1] a Community Scholarship Application (form is available below in PDF) or by calling 703-535-6863 and 2] a letter of recommendation (on official letterhead with a signature) from the organization with which the applicant is affiliated. Selection: Selection criteria for community scholarship awardees include: advocacy experience, outreach involvement, personal/professional development, and financial need. Preference will be given to applicants who work with and disseminate information to under-represented or at-risk populations.
