Guest guest
Dear Forum I do think that we have a very progressive minister if this has been suggested by him. For no reason then the sheer fact that any organization, specially if it is part of the government and also otherwise should be reviewed, NACO's review is a very timely suggestion, specially since the challenges ahead for India in prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS is going to snowball immensely. I have been involved in HIV/AIDS prevention from the point of " communication, BCC " progarms and I have specially worked with the youth. A lot needs to be done with and for the YOUTH, and this is not something new that we are talking about. The question is: does NACO / SACS have a strategy for this which is in place, under implementation. I would humbly request for some response on this from those who have. Guest guest
Dear Forum, India is the youngest country where around 52 per cent of the total population is young. Interesting! It’s really a very good resource we can bank upon. I see it as a great opportunity for the nation to pace up the growth rate in any field. But, the thing that worries me a bit is that people still not giving due importance to youth and adolescents sexual and reproductive health. I want to state that they are really vulnerable to contract virus. The life style and the kind of exposure they are having are putting them on the edge of danger and moreover they do not acknowledge the fact and feel that it’s not their issue. Adolescents those who need reproductive health services could not be provided friendly services. We could not give them enough space to come out with their issues. The services are not accessible, the cost is high and lots of other reasons are keeping them away and devoid of care and treatment. I think that in the wake of rapid spread of the virus from Urban to rural and increase in incidence of low prevalence states, efforts must be focused on this target population considering the their age group, culture, back ground and in fact their needs. I would appreciate your comments.
