Guest guest
Hi All, Just a quick update on ken. Again, thank you to everyone who sent information on gall stones. I only spent about 2 hours with Ken yesterday. He is very irritable and all he wants to do is sleep. I was there when the doctors did their rounds in the morning and they basically said that what they want is to get rid of ken's fever and pain and send him home for 30 days. At the end of that time, they will schedule him to have his gallbladder removed. Does this make sense to anyone? Why, if you get rid of the fever and the pain, take the bloody thing out when it's not bothering you any more? Why not use the things that you guys suggested to dissolve the stones and keep them away so you don't HAVE to remove the gallbladder? I went away for a while and came back and read Ken's chart only to find that he had been given an injection of Heparin - a blood thinner. Now, Ken's never had any blood problems and his blood pressure is on the low side of normal (115 over 70) so why in the world would a sick person be given this drug. I asked him and he said that he was told he was getting the injection to prevent bed sores! He had been in bed for about 24 hours and is ambulatory - goes to the bathroom and had a shower yesterday too. I looked in MIMS, did google searches and nowhere did I see any mention of Heparin being used to prevent bed sores. I did however see lots of information about it causing haemorrhage and death! And Ken never even questioned it. I called him last night to tell him what I found out and hopefully if they try to give it to him again, he will decline unless they give him a good reason. Are these people being paid a commission for the number of drugs they give? Also, despite the 3 different antibiotics, his fever is not down and he has no energy. He barely opens his eyes and doesn't want to talk at all. I am really concerned. He is nil by mouth but I feel like it's time to take action. I went to the naturopath last night and bought a tincture to support his liver and gallbladder as well as to help soften the stones. I am giving it to him if I can get him to take it. I also bought a very good vitamin C powder and a herbal antibiotic that I used on my son when he had MRSA a few years ago (it never came back and was gone within 2 days). I am hoping to get him out of hospital - hospitals are terrible places! - and back home asap where I can start him on the apple juice diet to dissolve the stones. Your kind thoughts are very much appreciated - wish me luck today with both the hospital staff and my wonderful stubborn husband!
