In 1977, MSI set up its first overseas centre in Ireland and a year later set up a programme in India. Today, the MSI Global Partnership provides sexual and reproductive health information and services to 3.3 million people worldwide in 38 countries across Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East and provides a wide range of high-quality, affordable sexual and reproductive health services and products aimed at improving women's health and giving them control over their fertility. These services include: family planning; obstetric care; ante- and post-natal care; and the training of birth attendants. The Marie Stopes International (MSI) Global Partnership works hard to ensure that safe motherhood remains high on the global health agenda. MSI also develops strategies to improve maternal ante- and post-natal and neonatal care at all health system levels and assists governments across the world to assess their maternal health needs, plan for solutions and translate their plans into action. MSI Partners in the developing world work closely with governments, health professionals, other non-government organisations and local communities to design and deliver innovative and high-quality programmes of sexual and reproductive health care that are culturally appropriate and responsive to local needs. The MSI Afghanistan project is seeking applications from qualified woman gynaecologists for an immediate short term consultancy for 3-6 months based in Afghanistan. The ideal candidate should have around 5 years of experience in reproductive healthcare including family planning, obstetric care; ante- and post-natal care. Should have some experience on training and capacity building; and working in rural resource poor settings. Must be MBBS, MD In Obstetric-Gynae with ability to work in a challenging environment with limited resources and; willingness to travel; ability to work and collaborate with technical advisors, experts and host country staff from public, private, NGO and commercial sectors; manage the day to day activities in the health care clinics; English language competency required; second language is preferable.
