The older dd hasn't (yet) In my experience, the younger two children will no longer be a threat once their lesions are dried up. It is the older dd that poses the problem. If it is possible to meet and visit with the family, BUT avoid the eldest child, then I would think you would be fine. Maybe meet them at a beach or park, where the mother could certainly see her children as well as yours, but there would be plenty of space to avoid close contact with the older dd. 2 of my 3 children are unprotected and need to avoid the CP. Nettie is on IVIG and the doctor's feel that she does NOT need any special protection or the VZIG if the IVIG was given within the past 2 weeks of exposure. Since is now being trialed off of the IVIG, we would contact the clinic for the VZIG for any exposure, but they only count CLOSE contact, ie. playing together for more than a 1/2 hour, riding in the same bus seat, spending the entire day in the same classroom, or a sibling developed an actual case. I guess you'll have to wait and see how long it takes for the kids to fully crust over and if you can find a spot where your children's exposure to the oldest daughter is minimal to zero. GOOD LUCK :-) Take Care and God Bless, Mommy to Annette 13 (CP, developmental delay, g-tube, Selective Antibody Deficiency, asthma, HIV+, GER, IVIGx 4 years), 7 (B-Cell dysfunction, brain tumor survivor, port-a-cath, trialing off of IVIG) and Trayvon 4 (complex congenital heart defects, asplenia, severe GER, strokes x 2, malrotated intestine) All wonderful and sent from God. www.caringbridge.com/ny/my2angels
Guest guest
Thanks for the suggestions! We realized last night that since the baby has no protection against CP, that if she were to catch it, Rebekah would be exposed daily until the scabs crust over. That's scary thought. I think we won't be seeing this family until the last few days (if then) of their vacation. Guest guest
My 10 year old, non-verbal son with autism is not feeling good today. He has 3 bug-bite type bumps; one on his cheek, and two on his back. They have a red base and are white in the center. About the size of a pencil eraser. Does this sound like the chicken pox? He has not had the vaccine. Yesterday the spot on his cheek looked like a pimple, but today it is much bigger and looks like a pox. Does the chicken pox usually start off with just a few pox like this, or would there be more if it were chicken pox? Thanks for any advice, Sylvia
Guest guest
Ohhh if it is, will a shirt rubbed on it survive the mail? I'd like my kids to get CP Nita (crew chief) and the crew: 15, Jon 13, 11, 9, 7, Christian (7/16/03 to 8/22/04), 2 and Isaac, 2/3/08 http://momof6.dotphoto.com <http://momof6.dotphoto.com/> for not necessarily current pictures http://nitasspot.blogspot.com Learn from the mistakes of others. Guest guest
Sylvia, When my son had the chicken pox, he did get very ill. My son is severely disabled non-verbal on a pureed diet. When he doesn't feel well he will not eat nor drink and he landed up getting dehydrated during his bout with chicken pox. He was hospitalized during this time and treated with IV fluids ONLY, No drugs(besides his seizure meds) Within 24 hours of just IV fluids he was feeling much better and we brought him home. I always tell parents when thier child isn't feeling well, push the fluids. Guest guest
I doubt it! LOL! I just found another spot. We are in California, and he spends most of his day outside swimming. So I am still not sure if they are insect bites. But to me it is looking like pox. Sylvia > > Ohhh if it is, will a shirt rubbed on it survive the mail? Guest guest
Thanks Kathy. Thats what I was wondering, if they started with just a few. I have been checking him constantly this morning. So far, just 4. I will know for sure in the next 24 hours what I am dealing with. Guest guest
My 13 month old daughter is experiencing something similar. She started out with a pimple/rash on her butt and one on her leg and over the course of a week a few more developed on her leg and face. These never crusted over though. I took her to ped. on Friday and they said it was not chicken pox and was likely contact dermatitis. I'm thinking it may be an allergy to something she's eating. The pimple marks my daughter had/has do not itch. I have a friend whose daughter had chicken pox with only a few marks. Good luck, T. > > My 10 year old, non-verbal son with autism is not feeling good today. > > He has 3 bug-bite type bumps; one on his cheek, and two on his back. > > They have a red base and are white in the center. Guest guest
My son's chicken pox actually started on his butt (He was 2). I saw on pock there, then the next day there were more on his back, then it spread to the rest of his body. He didn't have a lot of them, maybe 50 or so.
