Guest guest
Hi Robin, I was there and have a copy of that tape. The woman you speak was working in Frists's office. I think I remember someone trying to get a tv station interested in showing it, but it fell through. It was my understanding that a video existed of this exchange. I understand that it wouldn't likely appear on my evening news broadcasts, in between pharmaceutical drug commercials. Guest guest
Robin, I believe you are referring to the time a small group of parents went down to protest the Homeland Security Eli Lilly rider in 2003. It confrontation occurred outside the office of Sen. Bill Frist. About thirty parents gathered there wanting to speak with the Senator. Obviously he would not meet with us. A staffer from Sen. Voinavich's (R-OH) office came out and was basically started taunting the parents. She was laughing at the child, and made the remark that the little boy was a 'freak'. She called the Capital Hill police who came up and told her we had a right to assemble as long as we didn't block the hall. After some discussion the police realized the staffer was creating the problem and escorted her away. This protest brought many of us together for the first time....remember ?? Maurine you were there too. The protest received a great deal of attention and within weeks the Lilly rider was repealed. I spoke with a political reporter several weeks after the protest and he told me the staffers on the Hill were still talking about it. I remember he said, 'Do you guys realize what you did? You forced an act of congress to be repealed.' This event started a political movement in our community. Think about what would have happened had the rider not been challenged. "Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that has." - Margaret Meade you tube There was a story in the book Evidence of Harm, about a mother in Washington, I believe, or perhaps it was Atlanta. Guest guest
However, I would have to review it after all this time because I can't remember if you can hear the girls' nasty comments with all the noise around. Guest guest
Yes it is marvelous that you were able to get the legislation repealed. However, this video, I want to see it. And more than that, I want other people to see it. I keep hearing about you tube on the television with the recent buyout by Google. I have seen political videos on you tube. I have seen many videos on autims on FAIR autism media, when I am able to get the streaming video to work on my computer. But I've not seen this video of senator voinovich's staffer. Why? For some reason I'm not getting my EOHarm newsgroup posts in my email as I have in the past. I am having to look at the group postings on the website. I tried to resubscribe to the group but it keeps bouncing mails or something. Perhaps somebody can help me figure out what to do about this. > > Robin, > > I believe you are referring to the time a small group of parents went down to protest the Homeland Security Eli Lilly rider in 2003. > > It confrontation occurred outside the office of Sen. I don't have that event in the hallway you were talking about. I do remember it happening though. I also have to look at my old Autism One footage from their first conference. I have some video of the woman from the CDC. Does anyone remember that?

Guest guest
If it has juicy, politically-hot footage, send it to me. I might be able to use it. Guest guest
, i haven't looked at it since 2003. Let me review it(as it would have to be edited-long and boring some of it) and if it looks worth while-I will send it to you.
