Guest guest
Many have STOPPED seeing peds as the well baby visits are primarily to vaccinate (take it from me, a former peds nurse) And most parents are first to find a problem, not the ped. Once you decide you don't want vaccines, you also will discover you won't want much else peds have to offer - meds, meds and more meds. Many have switched to Naturopaths, Homeopaths, Holistic MD's, or Chiropractors American Association of Naturopathic Physicians 206-298-0126 Referral number: 206-298-0125 www.naturopathic.org American Holistic Medical Association 703-556-9245 www.holisticmedicine.org American Naturopathic Medical Association 702-897-7053 http://anma.net Holistic Pediatric Association 707-237-5312 http://www.hpakids.org health care practitioner database on Mothering http://www.mothering.com/discussions/forumdisplay.php?f=167 and their forum http://www.mothering.com/discussions/forumdisplay.php?f=140 Typing in your town, or nearest major city should get you some good info. Hello everyone, I joined recently and just knew I was in for trouble! Having been on this side of the vax issue for pets for years I knew it was as horrid for people. I stayed outside of the list joining for a long time just because I knew I'd be overwhelmed with another layer of information. More like another layer of drama in my life I do not need! Well I find that while reading your mails the past couple of weeks (even largely skimming posts)that it's worse then I imagined and the tears come. I so applaud you folks for your stand and gosh...you Dads! Bless your hearts! I am a Christian and I try to look at what is going on around me in a biblical perspective. I see no Godly purpose for the direction " immunizations " have taken. Like everything else in the world...what we have and are blessed with or what man first tries to do good with is taken apart and mutilated by the love of money and power. I'm in a small vent here and know I have a safe space with you..thanks.) That all being said I have a question in how to handle my first strong objection that is bound to continue this week. I sent the long report about Flu-mist or whatever it's called to my violin studio parents... forgetting that one of the Moms is a pediatrician. Oy vay!...do we hear " Hi lion...are you hungry this morning? " Actually she is a gracious and sweet woman who wrote back asking to not get these random emails again. She does not know this was not random but one of a few health issues that I spend time researching. She said people are so misinformed and so many would die of the flu without these shots, etc. You all know the dialogue. I have possibly lost this student, who has stopped for the summer anyway, although that part of this is fine. As they are on vacation this week, I will see her one more time next week briefly when she returns the instrument being rented. My desire is, first of all...NO arguing, 2nd, to keep a simple dialogue going if possible and not to make her feel more threatened that she already does. Where do you start when you inadvertantly have confronted someone right where they live and work who wasn't looking for info anyway? Someone you may have only one chance to suggest doing their own due diligence? She's not family...I'm not 'stuck' with her! lol I would not assume she'd be the least interested in this list, but what are one or two links (there are dozens!) or medically sound abstracts or books that are not written solely for the layman like myself that I could direct her to - if she will even go there? Asking the other person questions is good...do I ask where she has read that flu could kill all these kids? Then direct her to more truthful statistics she can look up? I feel that just saying " look THIS up " and she sees an emotional, inflammatory write up or colorful website will not do. I'm sure you understand what I mean. Since I am not an expert by any means I need to bring her to who is. (Like you, Sheri! She would probably have more information she believes is correct in her head then I have at this point in mine. Thank you so much...sorry for the length. I appreciate your help, as even with no children of my own (my students only! gg) I'm in this for the long haul as I am for the animals. Guest guest
Hi, Diane. I would never speak of vaccines again with that woman. She doesn't want to hear it, there is nothing you will say to change her mind, there is no source you can point her to that will be good enough in her mind--forget it. I would completely ignore the topic unless she brings it up (which is unlikely). If she does, apologize for sending it, saying you thought she would be interested. Period. If she pursues it, I would smile and say " just as you asked me not to give you info, I'm asking the same of you. It's better this way because clearly we don't agree on this topic and I'd rather concentrate on the task at hand which is music. " Believe me, your energies are better spent trying to inform the uninformed than attempting to convert those who make a living off of what you reject.
