My question is " if she came down with one of those diseases " would he treat her

with what?

You wouldn't give a baby a poisonous drug (med) would you?

2 wk. check-up--should I mention we won't be

vaccinating?

Hi all,

looking for some advice here. With my previous child, we stopped

vaccinating after 2 months. On a sick visit with her, about 6 months old or so,

a dr.

in the office asked if she were caught up on vaccines and came unglued on me.

He told me most of the doctors in the office are of the opinion, either vax

or find a new dr. This was not our regular pediatrician, and I haven't yet

approached him about it. It's been about 2 years now, and we have a new

infant, going in for the 2 week check up tomorrow. Should I ask him or just let

it alone? He has never pushed the issue or even asked us about vaccines.

Can he refuse to treat her should she come down with one of these diseases?

Thanks in advance,

he is at least 6 months old. I said that i've heard a lot of

controversies and did not fell right yet to vaccinate until i do more

research. My then pediatrician wasn't too happy but did not give me a

hard time. I would come with my husband so this way we had the strengh

in number. My huband is very frank and tough and can get nasty at

times, people usually don't like to mess with him...hehe

Should you ask him what, if you have to vax or find a new pediatrician? I'm a

little confused. It's been about two years and it hasn't come up again?

I wouldn't mention it and if they start having fits ask them if they believe

in their vaccines so much, why are they concerned? Do they not want health

freedom for themselves?

Since when are doctors god? They aren't. they never will be.

As a mom to a new baby myself, I can understand the need to have your

baby checked out to " make sure " everything is perfect, but you might

want to rethink using a pediatrician. My three-month-old has yet to

see a mainstream doc, and my chiro was able to help me through a few

uncertain days (I was basically sleep deprived and over reacting to

things). Unless it's an emergency that an allopath HAS to be involve

in, like a broken bone or, for instance when my two-year-old inhaled a

pistachio into his bronchial tubes, I stay as far away from the

allopaths as I can. They only know illness, not wellness.

Just some food for thought.

I was just curious, if your baby is not sick why does she have to go

to the doctors at all? Is she healthy, eatink well, peeing and

pooping ok, thriving ?

In my experience (25 years of nursing) " Well Baby Check-ups " are for

parents to be convinced unless they already believe that their Well

Baby needs to be vaccinated to stay well !

Why are we so scared to tell doctors of our wishes for our newborn babies?

I am not judging you b/c I felt the same way. We recently moved and I was so

terrified to try

and find a new ped. that I actually put it off for over 6 months! Just out of

fear of having the

'vaccine conversation'. Luckily, I was able to find one that didn't say

anything about us not

vaccinating. There are a few out there - so my advice would be to try to find

one.

If your baby is gaining weight and not having any problems, then I think the

well baby visits

are unnecessary. However, I go to most of mine only b/c our insurance pays

100%. If it

didn't, then I would probably only go once a year. I try to treat most

illnesses at home

homeopathically - luckily, both my 2.5 year old and 1 year old have only been

sick once. And

they see a chiropractor on a regular basis.

We need to get over our fear of doctors. They are only human beings just like

us with

perhaps a little more schooling and I would be willing to bet the farm that most

don't know

as much about vaccines as most of us on this group do! They only know what big

pharm tells

them!

Also, as said, 'they only know illness, not wellness' - very good point

!

No fear here either. If we have to go to an unknown out-of-hours dr, it no

longer bothers me. I just say with conviction: Absolutely no vaccines! I also

write it across the top of any forms we have to fill out. No vaccines under any

circumstances. If my son has gone to a dr for injury, the last thing he needs is

the immunological assault of vaccination. It's as though the dr's don't believe

that an injured leg isn't actually attached to the arm they want to jab - that

they are all separate pieces that work independently of each other.

It is an amazing thing. People usually go to see a dr when their illnesses

reaches crisis point. Most illnesses are self-limiting, but the dr writes a

script and, voila, patient feels better the next day [perhaps]. Dr and drugs

take the credit! Yet we are mostly self-healing given the factors that produce

good health and recovery.

DDIL went to dr for diagnosis and reassurance recently, as her throat appeared

to be blocked by a lump further down than the tonsils. Barking cough. Perhaps

laryngitis or pharyngitis. She declined the antibiotics and the following day

[with continued homoeopathic treatment] she was on the mend. It was a perfect

illustration of that crisis point reached.

Wow - didn't know they did 2 week check ups. We never did at the

peds I worked with in the 70's.

Just let it alone. There aren't vaxs at 2 weeks. I wouldn't say

anything yet. But may want to reconsider whether you need to go for

''well' visits at all - do you need the stress? It is rare that a

doctor would find a problem with your child at a well visit that you

haven't already found.

I don't know if they can refuse if one of the diseases come up, but

would never go to a peds for them anyway as they don't have quality

treatments for the illnesses - best to see a homeopath or naturopath.

Having had two home births, my midwives were " required by law " to

instruct me to take the baby to a doctor within two weeks of birth for

a check up. I didn't have to take their advice though, and I didn't.

BUT, I did get both of them to a chiropractor right away. My chiro is

listed on all paperwork as our primary physician.
