Guest guest
Hi, I am about to send my 21 month old to a daycare because I am about to have a baby in less than a week, and I am filling out her application. I have gotten to the part where they ask if she has any medication allergies, and so far I put, Amoxicillin, Tylenol, and Motrin, because if anything ever happens to her I don't want the hospital giving her these poisons. Does anyone else have any other suggestions? I've also put down that she is allergic to pasteurized milk, but I can't say anything about the food because this daycare is not WAP friendly and not organic. Any other wise suggestions from you would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Put " amoxicilin and other antibiotics " I think you've covered the basics - but I will think on it. Sheri > Does >anyone else have any other suggestions? Guest guest
Hi, nna. IIs she really allergic to Motrin, Tylenol, etc. or do you just not want them to give it to her? Doesn't a doctor have to sign that these are allergies? You know, any school my kids have gone to are not allowed to give any meds unless it is authorized in writing by you and a doctor. So, unless you give permission, they are not allowed to give them. I just put the true allergies that I know of, and then where it says the authorize them to do whatever in an emergency I put " except NO VACCINES are to be given, not even tetanus. " You can add " or any antibiotics.... " whatever you want. You'll be there in a flash as soon as they notify you anyway. As far as milk goes, they probably won't understand about pasteurized milk. Why not just put allergic to dairy (and artifical food dyes while you're at it) and avoid that whole scenario? Good luck! Winnie 21 month Old about to enter daycare and I need some advice! I think this is another thing that varies by state. For instance, when I was in NM, I looked into putting my son in daycare once in awhile just to be able to clean my house. LOL I wanted to make sure he wasn't given cow's milk, so I asked if I could send rice milk for him to drink. They stated that under the state funding they received, they were required to give every child cow's milk (of course, not raw) unless there was a doctor's note in the file stating the child was allergic. I then asked if I could send breastmilk that they could give in lieu of the cow's milk... same response (!!!). So, I didn't put him in daycare there. Here in Colorado, on the other hand, I was asked to fill out a form at first visit and on the form it asks for allergies. I listed antibiotics, cow's milk and strawberries (a sensitivity he has now outgrown). They just took my word for it and when I take him in, they put an orange wristband on him that lists his allergies. If I send food or drink for him, that's what they give him; I don't have to worry about him getting the crap food they serve there. The only doctor signature they required was a statement that he was in good general health and able to run and play normally on their play equipment (which my chiro filled out for me, and they gladly accepted). I really am fortunate to be able to keep more control over my child's care here in CO than most other states. It could be improved on still, but I wish all states were at least as easy as CO. Guest guest
Required to give cow's milk?? Good grief. Sounds as if they made that up. Guest guest
I know, I was FLOORED! I lived pretty remote, so there was only one daycare option available to me. I didn't bother to check into other state funded programs to see if it was consistent. I sure hope not. On Tue, Jul 29, 2008 at 1:39 PM, <wharrison@...> wrote: > Required to give cow's milk?? Guest guest
Where do you live? I am in Chicago and KC has only had one vac (mumps) since he was six months old, and he is 21 months now. His daycare has no problem with it. They asked for a medical form, but didn't question the vaccine status at all. Same with the previous daycare. They are aware that my son has a catastrophic form of epilepsy which is a result of a vaccine reaction. I was suprised to read your post about getting so much trouble from your day care! www.greenthevaccines.blogspot.com www.caringbridge.org/visit/kcmahoney > > > Hi, nna.
