Here is my effort to transcribe Peete's appearance on Good

Morning America today. I am sorry that I do not know the name of the

individual who conducted the interview, but, I thought he did a

pretty good job. In this transcript he will be identified as " ABC "

ABC: Well, we turn now to the fierce debate over vaccines and

autism. You can call it, a sort of celebrity show-down. On one

side, you have Peete speaking out very strongly for

vaccinations, even causing controversy with her choice of words. On

the other side is McCarthy who is urging a second look at

vaccines. Both are deeply passionate about their viewpoints and both

say children are their top concern.

Video clip with voice-over: Peete is a mother on a mission

when it comes to vaccinations and making sure her 18 month old

daughter Frances gets them. She is certain infant vaccinations do

not pose a risk to little children and are not connected to

autism. So certain, she told this month's issue of Cookie Magazine

" ly, I feel that parents who don't vaccinate their children are

parasites " . Her remarks are causing a firestorm, re-igniting the

debate over whether or not vaccines are linked to autism.

Video clip of McCarthy appearance on GMA (6/4/08): For many

children they are causing damage and we need people to take a look at them.

Voice over: Peete is not the first Hollywood parent to speak out on

childhood vaccines and autism. McCarthy has been an outspoken

advocate in the fight to eliminate toxins from vaccines. She

believes they played a role in her son Evan's autism diagnosis three

and a half years ago.

Video clip of McCarthy: The FDA still has 11 shots that

contain mercury and other ingredients like Ether and anti-freeze,

that we believe played a role in our child's autism.

Voice-over: Peete apologizes for her choice of words, but, she still

stands by her belief that every child should be vaccinated and the AAP agrees.

Dr. Jernkins, AAP: 97% of children don't have these defects,

so, when you look at what the risk and the benefits to children are,

and, you really weigh the risks, then the benefits far outweigh the

risks that occur.

Voice-over: So, whose right? Many in the medical community dispute

McCarthy's claim, saying any chemicals in vaccines are in small or

modified doses...and...that there's no proven link to autism. But,

the question remains open.

ABC: We're joined this morning by Peete. Thanks for being with us.

AMANDA: Thanks for having me.

ABC: Lets start with the comments in the magazine. You've

apologized, but, how could you have that kind of disdain for parents

who are really more concerned than anything else?

AMANDA: I didn't mean to show disdain. I did and do apologize for

the use of the word parasites. But, I do, in no way, shape or form,

retract my position....or...the meaning behind the use of the

word. Which is, if there are vast reductions in herd immunity, our

children are going to be at risk.

ABC: Like many parents who believe there is a link, McCarthy

is putting two and two together as she appeared on GMA and made this

case....let's take a listen:

VIDEO CLIP OF JENNY: In 1983 the shot schedule was ten and that's

when autism was 1 in 10,000. Now, today, there are 36 shots and

autism is 1 in 150....and....if you put those two side by side

comparisons....the shot differences....you see what these parents are

talking about....see the blood work-up after we test our kids for

heavy metal poisoning or other toxins, or viruses. All arrows point

in one direction.

ABC: How would you account for the rise in autism?

AMANDA: First of all, there were 7 vaccines in 1983 and there are 14

now. So, the numbers are a little off there. But, it's very

important the media starts to clarify this. It's not the number of

shots given, it's the amount of substance, the amount of antigens in

the shots. In fact, there are fewer antigens now in the larger

amount of shots we have, then there were in the 1980's and

1950's. It's almost like I gave you two scenarios. Today I'm going

to give you ten meals, but, each meal is just a single

raisin. Tomorrow I'll give two meals, but, each meal is a massive

plate of pasta Al Fredo. Which day do you think you ingest the most

substance? The media has to take into account quantities...when you

are talking about toxins. First of all, there is no Ether in

vaccines. There is mercury in the water we drink at an organic food

restaurant. You have arsenic and formaldehyde in trace amounts in

your body and so does every human being on the fact of the

earth. The media has got to start talking about quantities because

anything can be toxic in large amount. In small amount, these toxins

are everywhere. You can find them everywhere on the earth. They are

unavoidable unless you want to leave the planet earth.

ABC: 'We get so much conflicting information though. The

government, the US government, found this year that vaccines did

bring out autism in a Georgia girl....but she was genetically

predisposed in that case.

AMANDA: Are you talking about the Hannah Poling case?

ABC: Exactly.

AMANDA: As far as I know, and, again, I'm just a lay person....that

was a court hearing and not scientific evidence. There is a difference.

ABC: But, you've obviously done a lot of research, what's your

theory that's causing this rise?

AMANDA: Oh, I'm not a doctor, which brings me to another point. It

seems the media is often giving celebrities and actors more authority

on this issue than they are giving experts. That's a sad fact. I

know its a paradox, but, that's part of why I wanted to become a

spokesperson to say to people " Please, don't listen to me. Don't

listen to actors, go to the experts. " You know we had geologists,

expert geologists and engineers, who were telling the public the

levees in New Orleans will not hold up to a category five hurricane

and nobody listened. And we all know what happened. So, it's hard

to believe that when you take the Institute of Health, the CDC, the

AAP, virtually the entire medical community here and in Europe, who

are telling us vaccines are safe....it's hard to understand why there

is still this rampant suspicion and lack of....total....almost, I

don't want to say blind mis-trust..

a determination to mistrust these institutions. When this is the

most scrutinized medical product on the market.

ABC: Okay, well I know you will hold a press conference with the AAP

today and you are also part of a Public Service Advertising campaign

to convince parents to get those vaccinations.

AMANDA: iam. I'm very worried about our children.

ABC: I'm sure the discussion will continue.

AMANDA: I'm sure as well.

The media has got to start talking about quantities because

Why does this transcript bother me so????? I wished I could have seen

the actual show to actually seen how arrogant she looked because she

sure sounded all knowing........whatever !
