Hey Jim (and everyone)

I was speaking with my mom, and I guess, though I don't remember it, I

had the measels and mumps, and of course chickenpox as a child. I am

30, so the MMR was around, but our family doctor-get this- recommended

that my mom not allow me to receive it because he didn't trust it and

didn't think it was necessary! I so wish he was still practicing.

Huh!

My brother had the measles when he was 2 (early 60s). My sister and I

weren't born yet. She and I never did get it, but we all 3 had chicken pox

and mumps in the 1960s.

My husband (who is 44), had measles when he was 2. All 5 of his siblings

also had it.

My Mom is 68 and a native German. She and her 8 siblings had measles.

They all came through just fine being treated at home by their mothers (dark

room and lots of TLC).

I posted my story already and it is the same for my family of 5, my

extended family of 50+, all my childhood classmates and neighbors.

All was just fine.

Also same for every child in HUGE pediatric practice I worked with in

high school and as office manager after nursing school and never ever

saw a case in the hospital when I worked peds in the hospital in the

early 70's and later 80's

Yep me too. Had measles at the age of 4, was kept in bed for a week or so,

in a darkened room, ate if I felt like it, and lots and lots of TLC from my

mum. I remember feeling quite tired and sleeping a lot.

No complications, no residual problems, no worries.

Ditto Hunneybun!

I have few memories from such a young age BUT I DO remember my measles

time (1959). I was 4 at the time. My eyes were very sensitive, hence the

curtains closed. My Dad brought me little bits of Hot Dog and 7-Up. ( No

comments please, this was the 50s!!!) I do know that all the kids in my

area had the same thing and we weren't 'reported' nor 'isolated' by the

Public Health Department.

If indeed measles was such a horrible diesease, I don't remember my case

nor all the hundreds of my schoolmates being highlighted in the local

newspaper such as is the case nowadays. . It was just a normal rites de

passage , nothing else. And that was it roger, over and out!

Over and above this, I do not remember hearing about or noticing from a

child's perspective about anything regarding autism. And anyway one

would have surely noticed a child who didn't fit in. We all swam, played

tennis, gathered for BBQs etc togethered. Such behavioural anomolies as

associaited with autism, anywhere on the scale, do not go unnoticed. We

were very closely-knit communities at that time.

Thank you so much for all of your replies. And thank you, Sheri for the

wealth of information you posted about measles. I have not read all of

it, yet, but I will. I greatly appreciate the information.

No, I don't remember anyone with autism either. It stands out in my mind that

there were two girls who were excessively shy (the family was reclusive), but

still went to school. That's about as unusual as it got in my town, which I

lived in my entire life.

There was no special ed department at school, the nurses existed not to hand out

Ritalin, Benadryl and asthma meds but to give aspirin or bandaids to the

occasionally afflicted, and there were no school shootings.

There are those who would say that the reason you never saw the cases in the

70's-80's is due to the vaccine. What would your opinion be?

There could be lots of reasons why.

When I was a kid, parents in my area didn't send

their kids to a dr. if they had chicken pox or got sick. Which means it would

have never been reported. Yesterday I asked 6 war babies if they had the

measles. Four without thinking

said yes. Two said no. However when I asked how old were you. What were the

symptoms and what was the treatment, all four were vague, and not sure. They

started guessing about it. Whats my point. Simply this ,how accurate are records

even if they come from honest people. If you ask baby boomers and war baby's

about polio they will all say oh it was dreadful, everybody, had polio. When you

question them a little closer the answers are a bit different. The truth is

polio was a RARE disease. But most people don't do there homework. Its like the

time I was talking with a nurse at the local book store. A retired nurse. I got

on to my favorite subject, health, disease and vax. She spent 10 minutes telling

me the horrors of tetanus. When she was through I asked, how many cases have you

seen. Embarrassing she said none but she had heard of a case down in florida a

few years ago. When I read or hear disease story's with so called facts I look

to the source. Sorry

if it comes from medical with a scare or fear statement

I totally disregard it. Their job is to drum up business period. Try reading a

medical or nursing book, these youngsters are looking to pass a test by

memorizing points that the drug companys want them to remember. They are not

taught to reasn or think. So when they come out of school armed with some

knowledge and a proud ego they are going to let everyone know how smart they

are. Do you think they EVER questioned what they learned. Did you when you were

in high school. Most people just memorize key words and praises in order to pass

the test. Many students have no idea of what they have learned.  Let me give you

one example out of a nursing pharmacology book. In the preface it states " Part x

covers drugs that ACT in the respiratory system.  Page 4 " knowing how drugs

work. "

page 18 pharmacokinetics-how the BODY ACTS on the drug. Then the entire book

goes on to say how drugs act on the body.

To paraphrase Dr. Shelton. The drug is inert, it has NO POWER to act on

anything, the drug is lifeless, a dead substance. The body acts on the drug. The

drug is a poison and the body will try to eliminate it as fast as possible..

The drug is a poison and will poison the body by harming or killing any living

thing it comes in contact with.

When you understand that drugs are a poison to the body and can NEVER assist or

heal the body, that idea is absurd, then you will understand why I haven't taken

a drug in over 40 years. We need to understand this isn't just about vaxing, its

about health. The same people who tell you vaxing is lifesaving are the same

people who tell you drugs are lifesaving. As Dr. Shelton said " Let us Have The

TRUTH Though the Heavens Fall. Dr. Shelton was not a Allopath, he was a Doctor,

which means Teacher. He was a teacher of Health. Allopathic medical doctors are

not teachers. They do not teach health. They are drug pushers period. The sooner

you younger folks change to an alternative health person the easier your life

and healthier you will be.

I work at a Naturopathic clinic and was just archiving old files. A lot of the

people born up until the mid 50s have checked that they had mumps, measles,

rubella and chicken pox. It was the norm back then. My mom comes from a family

of 9 kids, every one of them had the measles and she said it was like no big

deal. Her brother had Polio and overcame it with no complications. Her parents

were old country German farmers and used a lot of natural remedies and they

never had any vaccinations except for smallpox at school. When my sister was 9

weeks old in the mid 60's, she got a DPT shot and came down with whooping cough

a few days later and had to be hospitalized. So a long line of health and then a

major sickness with complication due to a vaccination.....I am sure this happens

more than we know or that will ever be reported!

I still have my health records filed away somewhere. But even they are pretty

vague. I do know I had some of the childhood diseases. Chicken pox was

definately one of them. And I think I had the measles and mumps too, but would

have to check. My vaccine schedule is on there too. I will have to dig it out.

It is not in the most logical place it should be, filed under health in my

cabinet, lol. I am curious now to see if I had been vaccinated for anything

that I actually got. I will say though, that none of my childhood illnesses

were anything to worry about. Pretty much the same story as others. Anyway,

regardless of all that, my illnesses would not have been reported, along with

those of my siblings. Mum possibly took one of us in for a diagnosis, but that

is about it. From memory, we all caught these things around the same time. We

would be talking about early 70s. And there was no fear involved at all.

I don't post often, but I spoke to my father this evening about all of my

vaccination

concerns and I would like to share it with you. He said that he was a " sickly "

child

and that if anyone would have died from a childhood illness it should have been

him.

He told me that he had Measles, Mumps, Chicken Pox, Whooping Cough, and he still

managed to grow up to father two children.

It put things into perspective for me. He also said that he doesn't remember his

classmates all dropping like flies from the illnesses mentioned above.

Just thought I would share.

Jim, I was born in 1973, had my MMR shot that probably didn't work as

i had measles a couple of years later. my older brother had measles

too and both of my parents did as well.

i think it took me about 3 weeks to recover from measles. i was quite

sick for awhile, but recovered fine, no complications.

I quesedtion 6 more people yesterday. 4 said they had measles and 2 said no.

Again  questioning these 4 they were not sure of details. One changed her mind

and said  no she didn't have measles but had the chicken pox. The point I am

trying find out is did the generation born in the 40s and 50s all get the

measles or was it mostly hype like polio was mostly hype and aids today is

mostly hype.

The mmr shot came out in the late 50s and caused so many reactions they went

back to the drawing board and came up with another vaccine in the early 60s. My

guess based on my family and the boomers and war babies I am talking to is that

measles like polio was not common as they want us to believe. So if people are

getting measles after they get the shots that would prove the shots didn't

protect and If anyone recieved the shots and didn't get measles that would prove

nothing. Thanks for the info.
