Guest guest
I belong to a local parents posting group. Here is what I got. I did write back stating how I felt offended by the word " misinformation " and asked her if she would sign a written guarantee as a healthcare professional that vaccines are 100% safe and effective. I haven't heard back yet. It's usually a very nice, respectful list filled with different opinions. But I really did find her post offensive. Am I off base? Anyway, she is responding to my friend's free vaccine talk in Philadelphia post. I told her she should attend and see if she learns anything new. ************************ Hi Moms, I have been reading in the many emails concerning vaccines over the past 6 months since my son was born, and I wanted to share my thoughts and experience as a nurse at CHOP. I am actaully a vaccine " specialist " in my current position and I wanted to clarify the misinformation that many of you are receiving. 1. By the time your child is 6 months they would have received a max of 22 shots and that is only if you take the Heb B at birth (which is optional) and receive each vaccine at a single does. Many vaccines are combinations such at DTaP. Your child can receive DTaP, Hep B, and IPV as a combo and then you child only receives 9 shots by the age of 6 months. 2. Over the span of 4 years your child is to receive a min of 25 shots as long as you use combo vaccines and don't take a Hep A (needed to travel outside the US) and Varicella (needed for school). If you add these two vaccines in you at 29 shots over 4 years. 3. There is not scientific evidence that shows that vaccines cause autism. The CDC and all manufacturers of the vaccines have done extensive research in this suggestion and have not found any link. Autism is frigthening, and blaming it on vaccines is easy, but vaccines have eraticated many diseases, and without them we would still have our children dying from small pox, polio, whooping cough, measles, mumps, rubella and tetanus. 4. I, too, do not like to see my own son receive needles, but I know as a nurse and a mother that they are only to benifit him. I do plan to spread my son's vaccine out over the next 4 years, but for comfort measures only. I would be happy to be a resource for anyone who has questions or concerns or is wrestling with such a touchy issue. I do want everyone to know I understand this is a personal choice for you and your child, I just want to make sure everyone has the correct information.
