one also needs the adrenal vein cortisol measurement to judge if the AVS was

a " good one " .

See if you can get those.

Atacand will be worthless in first few days after adrenal removal as renin is

still low.

After a time it may profoundly lower BP esp if you are DASHing or have been

using a low sodium diet.

See my article on the evolution of PA and take to your Dr as it will explain

why BP is so resisitant to todays drugs.

Some time if you have time we would like to have his " story " in as much

detail as possible. You can look in our files for models.

Thanks and keep us posted.

In genearl with good AVS on has about a 50-75% chance of never getting HNT

again. Only time will tell. Be certain you have a good home monitor and

measure it according to our guidelines once a week or so and keep a plot.

Recommend you get the DASH diet book and start cooking this way to minimize

and possibly slow return to HTN.

Any family Hx of HTN and low K. There are some rare family forms of this.

I always like to test for this before surgery as surgery does not help.

May your pressure be low!

Hi Dr Grim:

Initially, the avs on right showed 15,200 with coritsol stimulation in the 700'

s left gland showed 42 with cortisol in the 400's. I will post the story

shortly. Thank you for your input. His dad does have high blood pressure but

not until he was 58 and at 60 had open heart surgery. He is having some

problems now controlling his pressure. He mentioned the situation of my

husband's issue to his doctor, and the doctor said really, that is a rare event.

I am wondering if his father might not have the same issue.

Good this means both were good adrenal samples and predicts good response-not

100% understand.

It occurs in about 10% of drug resisitant HTN so is fairly common. has he

had low K?

This would suggest the possiblity of one of the inherited forms of PA. See

my article. Most likely is GRA but not usually associated with adenomas.

Well, I know you will all appreciate this, so I wanted to share: my 22 year

old niece just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy safely at home,

unassisted! She and her husband have decided not to circumcise, to

breastfeed exclusively, and to forego vaccinations! She totally trusted her

body to birth this child exactly the way he should be, and she is trusting

her body to help him grow and flourish and thrive! I am so excited! I am

over the moon!
