MONTANA VACCINATION EXEMPTION ISSUES

Greetings -

As you may remember, a group of holistic parents in Montana brought a

vaccination bill to our legislature in the 2007 session. This bill

was proposing the addition of a religious exemption for daycares, an

exemption that is already available for school-age students. Our bill

was defeated in the House by 50-48, with a overpowering outcry from

the Democrats (a number of public health nurses serve on the

legislature) that the passing of this bill was a " death " wish for our

zero-2 children who had not had the chance to be fully vaccinated

yet; yes, they actually sent out a memo with D-E-A-T-H in big bold

letters across it. Despite the promise of a vote from a few key

Democrats, this " death threat " was loud enough to sway the needed

votes to pass through the House.

As we are heading into the next legislative session and we are

gearing up for a new approach. We have not solidified our platform,

whether religious or philosophical, or even what tactics might be to

our advantage.

So the reason for this message is to spread the word about what is

going on here in Montana, but also to garner support, as well as

insight into recent and current issues and legislation across the country.

We are on the radar of Vaccination Liberation but if you have any

additional contacts in our region, parents, practitioners or

otherwise, please let me know.

Also, if you are able and/or available to assist as an informational

witness, be it through a letter or some other testimony, your efforts

would be greatly appreciated.

I'm in Bozeman so this is interesting to me. I do not have a child in need of

daycare and I'm thankful we have a school age religious exemption. However, I

think it's ludicrous that the same doesn't apply to daycare.

I was just wondering the other day, politically, how this issue plays out.

Maybe this is ignorant of me, but atleast on a national level, I would think of

the Democratic Party as being more sympathetic to causes such as this.

I have mentioned this issue on different occasions to various people involved at

The Communicty Food Coop.. which is our wonderful organic grocery store and I've

been surprised at the mixed responses.

Anyway, best of luck with your mission. Also, if anyone has any insight on how

this plays out at the national level I am curious!
