Guest guest
Recently someone had posted their concern over pediatric dentists now asking about immunization status. This inspired me more than ever to wear my " vax " t-shirt to my dentist appt yesterday. When I arrived for my cleaning, the dental hygenist questioned the meaning of my t-shirt. I briefly told her that my infant was injured by his vaccines last year (I did not tell her about the rest of the victims in my family). I also informed her that there was a huge rally in Washington, D.C. in June where 8,000 people marched and many had vaccine-injured children also. I could sense that she really didn't know much about the controversy either. We then changed the subject and began talking about her upcoming wedding this Sunday. She also informed me that she does not have any children yet (perfect opportunity for a little seed to be planted). After my cleaning, I then proceeded to walk ahead of her to the checkout. After she read the back of my shirt which lists many vaccine ingredients, she stated very loudly for all in the office to hear " Wow, I just read the back of your shirt and that would make any parent question vaccines! " I just smiled and said, " I know. " After leaving there, I then went to my town hall and had my exemption forms notarized for one of my children. The clerk that was waiting on me read my shirt, notarized my forms, and told me that she hopes I have a " wonderful day. " She had a huge smile on her face when telling me this too and really emphasized " wonderful " . It really made me wonder how many forms she has had to notarize recently. I cannot wait to find out what the exemption rates are for this year. As of 2006, JAMA had stated that it sees an increase of exemption forms filed totaling 6% each year for non-medical purposes. Well, we have had a lot that has happened this past year....Hannah Poling, reporters beginning their own anti-vax blogs, the March in Washington, etc. Please, as soon as someone has access to these figures, please let us all know!!
