Every time he had anything with red food coloring he would have a complete melt down w/in an hour. Red kool-aide is the worst. Guest guest Posted September 6, 2008 Report Share Posted September 6, 2008 Our dd is just over 2 (28mths). She is completely non-vaccinated, and has been to the Dr twice. The first visit was just provide us with a Dr. of record so that her grandmother would feel better. The other visit ended up being a minor virus that required no treatment. Our Dr. is a Naturopath as well as an MD and does not vaccinate at all in the office we go to. I have begun working on a website that features non-vaccinated children for exactly this reason. So many of us are made to feel like we are doing something criminal or wrong or dangerous and we feel very alone in our decision. The truth is that there are millions of unvaccinated children in the US now and the numbers are growing daily. Blue food coloring with glucose in it. My son was literally spinning and climbing up the walls. It was really eerie. He was crying: " Mommy, I don't know what to do, I just can't stop!!! I have 5 kids. 13(this month),11.5, 8, 4.5 and 15 months. No vax in any of them. I was raised without vax as well except a Dr. scared me into getting the MMR booster and a tetnus booster when I served a mission. I didn't know I could have opt out. I remember being so tired and drained and than started having joint pain. I was only 21. I don't go around telling people we don't vaccinate but if it comes up I will usually tell them that our Ped said it was better they get exempt because of my bad reactions. Said they are at higher risk for a bad reaction. I'm a stay at home mom and the vaccine question just doesn't come up much in any groups I'm in. I also homeschool or had until this year. People always say " you need to vax for school " not true. I go to the health department, fill out a form, cross of some of what they put and add my own words etc. Nurse signs it. No big deal. When I registered my kids for school and they say they need their immunization records I don't even say anything I just hand them their copy of the exemption form. Never had a problem. My kids hardly get sick. The ones that have been in public school off and on got more sniffles and head colds during the K-3rd grade. As they got older they didn't seem to pick cold germs up as much from school. Some had an occasional ear ache. Usually when they had junk food or to many treats from school. We try and eat healthy but we aren't 100%. We have used raw cow or goat milk. We stay away from store milk. It gives us mucus and colds. Here's a tip for earaches. I learned this after trying different things and finally taking my child in to instacare and having their Medical stuff not work. You take an onion and cut it up. Put it in a clean nylon(I buy knee hi's for this job) squeese out all the onion juice. Make sure it's warmed up a bit or room temp and than I use a dropper and fill their ear up with it. Have them lay down so the hurting ear is pointed up. After a minute or so I let the excess onion juice drain out. This coats the ear and kills the bacteria. I learned it from an herbal book. It's rare that my kids get an earache but when they do they always say 'get an onion mom " . We also keep olive oil and melaleuca(tea trea oil) mixture on hand and if you put the drops in the ear at first sign of ears starting to hurt, it really helps. I've found that my kids really don't get very sick. They get the flu once in awhile and it's nothing more than a tummy ache and feeling icky for a day or two. One son gets sick to his stomach once or twice and than feels fine. Another child gets sick to tummy and feverish for about a day and than is fine. Lots of healthy liquids, and rest. Red raspberry leaf herbal " tea " is awesome for colds/flu. Full of vitamins and easy on the tummy. I found this is great to keep on hand. I'm totally rambling. I just wanted to share that I find unvaccinated children much healthier than vaccinated children. Most parents think it's great stuff. I didn't realize the blue was so awful, too. There's a new kind called G2 that also has sucralose or aspartame in it. Wait until they're older and want Red Bull. It's a constant struggle when all their friends drink this junk. He hasn't had a single shot, no antibiotics, wasn't circumsized, hasn't had a chemical anything at all, ever (well, except what has snuck into his food). He is somewhat OCD, but it seems to be diminishing a bit. he has to put hi clothes on in a certain order, and he used to have a real freak-out if we didnt' do things in the right order that he had in his mind of how it should be done. If he fell asleep before he got his PJ's on, and woke up at 5 am, he had to put his PJ's on, even though it was time to get up anyway. I mean, screaming, tantrum freakout -- he HAD To have his PJ's on because he was in bed! He was late to talk, and he stutters when he is stressed. He also has a hair-trigger, and will hold stuff in until he explodes. Is also extremely sensitive, and gets his feelings hurt easily. He has difficulty sitting still in school, though he can focus on something he's interested in quite intently :-) I think that is just " typical boy " . He also had some dentition issues, with teeth not falling out before the next one came in, some crooked baby teeth, but those seem to be resolving as well. I have taken both kids to a naturopath that also practices some homeopathy, but I have not been able to find a classical homoepath, unfortunately. He's been very healthy (one one mild ear infection and a few colds in all of 4 years). We did the well-baby visits until he was 2 and then we stopped. A mother of an autistic child I know said to me last week that dd had *tendencies*. Mine is certainly very sensitive, but otherwise a *normal* child!! She's changing schools next month and I think it will start the metamorphosis to **teenage normality** God help us! LOL! Normal kids are now seen as having something wrong with them!! What a state of affairs....
