Guest guest
I don't see any forms on the Michigan PH website. They might not provide them. I would write a letter stating: " The school immunization requirements for my son/daughter/name/birthdate cannot be met because of religious or other convictions, per Michigan Public Health Code MCL 333.9215. " Maybe Sheri has an idea of how to phrase the " religious or other. " I couldn't find a way to phrase " other " without it sounding weird so included both the way the law states it. Guest guest
Michigan has a group: Michigan Opposing Mandatory Vaccines momvaccines.org they have forms there, and if you join (like 15.00 per yr), they will keep you updated on MI candidates views and legislative changes. Guest guest
Hi Jackie, Here's the website for MOM (Michigan Opposing Mandatory Vaccines) there are 3 different waivers to choose from. Guest guest
Michigan has philosophical exemption also. Can I replace religious with philosophical or is the religious part required? I have found the exemption form, but according to the MOM website, I need a written letter also. Guest guest
The MOM exemption form that sent looks perfect. It IS the written statement. Fill out, sign--looks complete to me. I would not use the state waiver form as you'd be signing that you know you're putting your child and others at risk. Guest guest
For some reason, I can't print that one out. I'll have to keep trying, I have a few days. So I don't need both then? I don't have to do the state waiver? Guest guest
No, one statement is all you need. Only use page one--no need for the second page. Try saving the file to your computer. Then open and print. Winnie Re: exemptions > > Vaccinations > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I was wondering...for those in states without philosophical exemptions (only religious or medical), where you are not required to state your religion (like here in Mass. we just say it's against our beliefs, but we don't have to specify the beliefs) - do you think it's a good idea to try now to get clergy or someone on board with your exemption, in case they change the laws to make it more specific or difficult (like in New York)? Just curious. It seems almost too easy now and I can't imagine it will always be like this. I'm surprised, frankly, that Massachusetts doesn't make us state our specific religion to get out of it, because we are a nanny state if ever there was one. They are starting to now enforce no trans fats in any restaurants, calorie counts must be posted on menus, children will be weighed at school to determine if they are obese, thinking about banning smoking in personal vehicles, and on and on. When did we lose all sense of personal responsibility? I mean, I don't think people should eat that crap or smoke, but if you want to, it's a free country...or is it?? Melinda C. The wording of a few states is that you say you are a member of a religion that is opposed but you don't have to say what religion And it will be rare you will find any clergy who are aware of the dangers. >I'm surprised, frankly, that Massachusetts doesn't make us state our >specific religion to get out of it, because we are a nanny state if >ever there was one.
